Leased an EQS450 SUV - any way to get out of it? or upgrade to GLS?

,

I am located in NY
Got the EQS450 SUV for my wife less than a year ago and have 2 years left..
She does not like it for different reasons
From what I understand I cannot sell the lease
Is there any other way to get out of it?
Is it possilbe to upgrade to a GLS450?

You can certainly trade it for another Mercedes or any dealer can just buy out a MBFS lease, but on an EQ-anything you’re going to be thousands upside down.

Just for fun get a few quotes from Carvana, CarMax, etc. Compare that to your current payoff at MBFS. The difference is how much $$ you’ll have to pay to come out of your lease early, whether you just pay it outright or roll it into a new lease.

Every option you have is going to cost you $$$

As @j_e_f_f said, get some bids on the vehicle and see how much of a pain tolerance you have to get out of this thing. It’s probably going to be an eye watering number.

Can you keep the EQS for yourself and get her something else?

Absolutely. How many thousands of dollars are you willing to pay to do so?

As you can see above, everything is about money, unfortunately. Just to guess, your negative equity is around $30k.
I’ve heard that tropical storm is developing in American gulf😜

If I remember correctly, when the EQ craze started, one of the first things discussed was DO NOT LEASE one of these if you cannot/will not keep it until lease end because there is absolutely NO WAY you will get out of this thing early without it costing you big $$$

Now, if his wife is a big enough nag it might be worth lighting $30k on fire to shut her up about the EQ she doesn’t like.

Does MB not allow lease transfers like BMW does?
If your monthly payment is reasonable I don’t see why someone else that likes the EQ line wouldn’t want to take it off your hands via lease transfer.

Edit: just googled it

Even in CT they keep the original lessee liable. IIRC.

The snowy offramp method also won’t work right now since there is no snow.

Too bad you can’t use the CA method.

Eqs craze is almost over - production is nada past July

What about trip to Alaska?

That only works for planes.

My guess is that after these comments OP’s wife loves her EQS :squinting_face_with_tongue:

Nah OP gonna have two car payments… EQS becomes the junk car and wife gets a GLS.

That’s probably going to be the best option here. I couldn’t stomach lighting that much money on fire to get out of the EQ. If I could afford it, I’d rather just get her the GLS to shut her up and keep the EQ until lease end and treat it as a lesson learned. At least if I keep the EQ I’m getting some enjoyment/use out of driving it vs rolling all of that neggy eggy into the GLS.

Ok I get it - I need to keep it for myself when my lease ends… I dont love MB to be honest so I doubt I will get a GLS…
Prefer a 3 row SUV like Buick Enclave or similar… whatever I can find a deal on I guess

That poses another question, will the wife be ok going from an MB to a Buick?
