Lease transfer across state between family/friend

Hi, as I am browsing I realize all the good deals are in NJ-tri state, florida or TX.

Wondering if I can have family lease vehicle first and then they transfer to me?

Why don’t you lease the car in whichever state you find the best deal in? Fly out and drive it back home

But to answer your original question, not all leases can be transferred and not all leases can be transferred across state lines

I am certainly open to that but lot of the good ones I am coming across are not open to that. Specifically looking at all good Hyundai Ioniq/kia ev6 and nissan deals. Lot of them restricted to north east.

No lease transfers with hyundai/kia

Maybe i am mistaken but i think Hyundai/Kia has lease program based on dealer location. Separate thing is if the dealer/broker wants deal with Your state registration.
Where are You located BTW?

Thank you for the information. And sorry forgot to include important info. Located in South Carolina but open to picking up from north east.

And Nissan original lessee is still liable for the vehicle.

Plus NJ benefits a lot from no taxes, which would get applied when registration changes.

BMWFS is the easiest to transfer, as long as the transferee has better credit/numbers than the transferor. Followed by more painful participants like US Bank/Tesla, Ally, GM Financial, TFS.

Nissan and Audi are typical no-no’s because they leave the original lessee on the hook, even with one-pays.

Flat no’s are Hyundai, Kia, Mercedes Benz, Chase… I think that covers the typical lessors.

For easy reference:

Last I checked, GM Financial doesn’t allow out of state transfers.
