Had a family never in need of a car and unfortunately local brokers on the forum were out of inventory so I found a local Murano S. I found a NY dealer who stated they agreed to 0 cap cost reduction 18 /10K with taxes and fees paid upfront 0.00249 money factor with 625 incentive. I first sent it as an email with the terms I was looking for and then got confirmation over the phone that they accepted the terms. I just saw their lease and it isn’t adding up.
Can someone explain what happened? Did the dealer reneg and do a cap cost reduction to get the numbers to the agreed upon monthly payment? The $625 discount is reflected and first month but the vehicle shows gross cap above Msrp?
Yes the monthly is correct and they paid $2,628.58. I just happened to ask them for the contract and went this is odd right away with the gross cap of 37,389.28 being above msrp. I asked 500 off msrp as it was the only car they had then they offered $625 off the msrp the full incentive on the phone without me asking. Plates weren’t transferred but I don’t really care about that. This is the email I sent directly to internet sales manager who called me and said they agree to my terms.
I’m really just wondering why they put the gross cap above msrp?
Unfortunately you left things somewhat ambiguous in your “fees and taxes upfront” ask and then this motified lease was agreed to agreed to. In the future, if you make an offer, be specific with thd numbers.
I see, so what should have been the correct DAS by your calculations? I asked them to send the fee breakdown for total DAS but the salesperson didn’t send them.
You are 100% correct I screwed up on that part. But what was the reason for raising the gross cap cost above msrp? That part I’m still missing. Also to clarify I asked the salesperson the manager assigned to be the go between prior to them going to sign the contract for the DAS but wasn’t provided it.
To get to your asking price of $36500, they could have gotten there by selling it for $37125 ($37125 - $650= $36500). They got a little greedy and tacked on an extra $264.
Damn, that’s probably why they wouldn’t send the final numbers. Still better than Riverhead who offered 500 off msrp advertised then when I called to give a deposit after speaking to first person they changed their mind and wanted 3K over msrp. I appreciate you breaking it down for me, never had this happen before. Part that really sucked was a broker here got in more cars I saw literally same day they signed for this car.
Similar but they got me with the inflated DAS and they ended up paying extra by the dealer ignoring request to transfer plates. It’s not way off like 3K DAS then I’d be pissed. I was more curious about the inflated Cap Cost
Got an update, at first they were slow to respond but I was able to get an appointment for a 3 way call with the finance person. They agreed to refunding the $395 and fixing the paperwork. They said they’ll send a check.
