Lease Review - First Timer.. please advise

I didn’t reply to you nor would I ever reply to you. I highlighted @nylife reply and somehow your face appeared.

Yeah, I know, I just replied to you. Well, this is the last time.

But, can I trust that it hasn’t been tampered with or changed? You seem very trusting.

Hint: you get notification when someone replies to you post. Just look above and maybe you will understand. Though I doubt it since it’s not a rocket science

Folks, keep it civil and on topic to helping OP.

This doesn’t seem like any deal to write home about. I think you can shoot for a deeper discount here. Crosstreks are a dime a dozen.

The lowest I have now gotten them to is $28,900, that is not reflected here at is about 8% off MSRP. This was a dealer trade, not originally bought by this dealership… so the remaining transparency about actual invoice is now unavailable.

Is this even a question? Run away

Effective $386 if it was just first DAS, no thanks, not for that car.

I just really have to ask. What is it about Subaru’s that people are so willing to spend such money on one? There are so many more cars that are much more fun, useful, and have the same options for less money. For $330 a month, with less or no money oop, you can get a trailhawk Cherokee with a V6 or 2.0 Turbo with tons of off-road capability and the same tech features. This Subaru thing seems just insane to me. I mean I have a wrangler and have had multiple and I know people say they’re terrible crap cars but they’re extremely unique in a 4wd 4dr Convertible. There is no direct competitor to a wrangler but the Subaru has many. Maybe look at CX5s or X2 which are a class ahead in driving dynamics.

Subaru has found it’s niche as a reliable yet quirky family of cars, geared towards those with a love of the outdoors but beloved by virtually every non-car person who buys one. They tend to be reliable and extremely safe, which appeals to all.

Your ability to score decent deals on them largely depends on Subaru’s penetration in your market. Subaru has it’s biggest markets in Colorado, the Pacific Northwest, and New England (Vermont, specifically, I believe) but is growing all over. The more dealers, the more competition, the better the prices. I haven’t checked in a while, but it didn’t take much to get Seattle area dealer’s to drop their pants on many models, including loaded up ones - think 15% off on Forester XT Touring, Outback 3.6 Limited, etc.

I think OP may either be in a smaller Subaru market OR working with the wrong Subaru dealer.

This. My sister got through college in a used 98 Forester. Thing was a beast and never left her stranded but it cost probably 2x in maintenance and repairs than the car had cost when she got it with 60k miles. And that was just to keep it passing MA inspections. By 180k it was leaking oil from 4 places, was totally rusted out, suspension was shot, and half the trim pieces were broken. So I got her into a RAV4. Thing has been flawless. She tells me now that she misses the Subaru and wants another…I don’t get it  it’s like a damn cult.

I have a similar obsessions with old E46 BMWs. Have 2 of them and one has 180k ordered new from factory in 06.no maintainenxe issues ever and unbelievably well balanced car.

I understand the concept behind Subaru, I’m some ways, but as someone who is extremely outdoor oriented himself i could not possibly drive a Subaru. No ability to tow, I wouldn’t trust it on a beach without 4 low. I just don’t see how a CRV or RAV4 doesn’t compete in that market. And it’s definitely not a drivers car even with the H6, the CVT and lack of manual kills it.

No one in their class can compete with Subaru’s symmetrical all-time AWD (not counting jeeps there)

Or their craptastic motors! All the noise with none of the mpgs!

In fairness, they sure know how to make a leaky head gasket too.

Are we talking about Subaru or Harley-Davidson?

Clutches? Two people at work have replaced those too, plus the standard head gaskets for one of them. But I’m in Colorado so they’ve consumed the kool aid.

People tend to get nostalgic about their first college experience.
