I’m going to be returning 2021 Wrangler to US Bank in a few months and it will need tires. I’m buying used tires of course - my question is whether anyone knows about whether tires with a 2018 date code will be an issue.
- Even if they were stored inside in a temp controlled environment, out of the sun and not flat-spotted, those tires could be close to unsafe for driving and that includes you driving on them. I would expect you might not know anything about them except the price and tread depth (unless those are the OEM tires and you didn’t just pick them up to replace the OEM set)? Are they showing sidewall dry rot or any other signs of age/wear beyond the tread?
-
You may get hit for the tires on the age but sometimes they only check the tread wear. Can’t recall any time I saw an actual inspection of the date code. What does US Bank say in the return language and where are you returning the Jeep to?
-
If you can find a newer set for close to the same price that is the way to go.
My AIM inspectors always look at the date code, but I’ve never seen a line for ‘really old tires’
What does “AIM” stand for?
on a related note, anyone know if they also require a minimum amount of tread on the spare?
EDIT: My lease is through CCAP
They don’t care, just care about the tread depth and spec
