Lease Return Tire Quality Check

Hi,

I wanted to know if Mercedes charges for Tires if you get a new Mercedes lease with them?

Also if they do, do you know the tire quality they are looking for? Like the thread depth they are looking for?

Thank you guys

4/32 is the standard, anything under is a charge

I don’t know Merc specifically but depends on how much equity your car has, the dealer might absorb it and pass it in a different way on the next car.

Go to a local tire shop and ask to measure if you don’t have the tool they usually mail you (It’s a plastic card)

Expect them to charge if they’re below standard, waiving stuff like that isn’t possible when there is no money left in the deal, so if you’re getting a new car and it’s a good deal, don’t expect the dealer to cover it.

I have to have this conversation all the time with people, “the dealer usually covers my tires” which is great and easy when you’re paying sticker, when there is no money left in a deal for a dealership, they have nothing to use to pay for your tires, because they’re not actually going to be able to get MBFS to waive it, so all they can do is replace the tires or buy the car and wholesale or resell it themselves.

And don’t get a bad lease just for the sake of this.

In the future, as a general rule, a good replacement set of tires needs to be in the overall budget for your next car. Replace them before your third winter if a 36m lease. Get some benefit out of the money you spend by driving on them until the end.

Don’t be one of those people driving on sub 3/32 tires in the winter hoping for the fee to be waived (or having prepaid for that daft privilege).
