Lease Return: Mercedes MOE (Runflat) tires, patched Tires

Hi Hackrs,

I will be returning my leased Mercedes c300 next month. Does anyone know if Mercedes care about patched tires? In addition to this does Mercedes care about MOE what if I get the tires with exact same brand and specs non-MOE?

I have got two patched from eBay so wondering if there will be an issue when returning the vehicle.

Thanks

If car came with runflats, you must replace with runflats.

Patches? Who cares, it’s not like they’ll see them.

I returned mine several years ago, with 3 run flats, one replaced different brand non run flat, and no one said anything.
Might have just been the dealer didn’t care so who knows?

They probably just missed it

But does it need to be MOE?

Wow you got lucky, the have a line specific for ‘mismatched tires’.
Your inspector might’ve been lazy.

If it did, it would say so. All they say is

please note that if your vehicle came equipped with run-flat tires, the replacement tires must also be run-flats.

MOE = MOExtended = Mercedes Original Equipment Extended Mobility

Basically it’s the mercedes spec for runflat tires

Thanks for asking! I was thinking some Japanese fan craze. or the Main Stooge.

I returned the car a day after I had it washed, it looked brand new and they barely even looked at much. Just gave me a slip to sign and I was done.
They probably were just lazy.

Thanks Matt

In Russian, “MOE” means “something that is mine”. Spelled like “МОЁ” but no-one follows that exact spelling. I had a brain fart when I first read this question. Had to re-read it few times.

That’s the dealer, not the inspection. You could’ve just signed off on 4 new tires. Inspections at dealership are usually more through.

I called Mercedes Financial they said, it doesn’t need to be MOE should just match the specs.

But I am worried about the patched tires, do I need to replace them? Are they going to find out when turning my car in.

The inspection process does not involve removing the tires from the wheels to look at the inside of the tires for signs of a patch.

Matches the specs I believe include being run flats. MOE I think is Mercedes term for specific branded OEM RFT like Pirelli.
