Hi All,
We have 2 leases ending, Focus and Volt, and we’re prepping for the lease return inspection. Both cars have some minor scratches that look like it will be past the acceptable amount without incurring a charge.
I am tempted to see what the inspection report spells out before taking additional remedial action (i.e. get a bumper repair person to fix it up). I’m hoping the cost will be less than the amount a bumper fix will be. If not, I can get it fixed pretty straightforward. I am presuming there will be a dollar cost associated with each item that is past the “acceptable” amount of damage incurred during the life of the lease.
However, I am concerned that if the inspection is done, and the report is submitted, that any “touch up” work on the bumper would not be considered good enough (even if the repair looks fine).
Wanted to see what other people’s experiences are with this; would Ford or Chevy reject any touchup repair if the scratch/damage has already been noted? In that case, I presume getting it fixed before the inspection would be the safest course of action.
Any thoughts appreciated.
Thanks!!
