I have a quote from an AutoNation dealer to buy this car for $49,500.

I’d basically be out $400 on the car itself, ~$4,000 in sales tax, plus the plates were renewed in December (~$625) and would stay with the car.

Call that $5,000 for 14 months, or $357 a month, plus I’d get to pick out another new-to-me car.

Very nice. But I’m watching what your going to get to replace it with.

The replacement is the hardest part

Even in normal times this is a huge problem for me (indecisive, too many criteria, no strong draw in any one direction).

I did have my eye on a 2017 750i with 24,000 miles, in carbon black, for $47-something… basically an even trade.

It appears to have disappeared from the dealer’s site while I was having lunch with a friend. :frowning:

Oh well… it was RWD, and I told myself I wouldn’t do that again.

A BMW V8 is typically not something you’d want to own out of warranty

That’s where I’ll be in November anyway if I just keep what I have (CPO warranty expires).

I’m not that concerned with the cost of owning something without a warranty, especially compared to, say, spending $30,000+ to lease something new for 3 years.
