Lease Inspection

Currently have my Ram 1500 lease through CAL Auto out of NJ, first off, they are a terrible leasing company, and I don’t recommend them to anyone. They called me today to talk about my lease end options and I told them that I had no interest in purchasing the vehicle due to the inflated RV. After listening to them try to pitch me the idea of buying it, I told them I plan to pay the final few payments in full and just turn it in this month (due to mileage being close and its 50 cents per mile over).

Apparently, they like to make the turn in difficult as well, I can’t take it back to the originating dealer but instead I have to select a 7-day window with a 12-hour pickup window, and they will come get it on a truck so they can take it back to their service center in NJ. They told me they do not offer any type of lease termination inspection, but I can do it on my dime if I choose to. So, my question is, where can I get this done? I’ve googled my area (Buffalo NY), but I can’t find any company that will do it since they are contracted with other banks, the dealer won’t do it either.

Is my best bet just to take extensive photos, videos and maybe statements from the dealer on the condition?

If the leasing company doesn’t offer an official pre inspection then I wouldn’t bother getting it inspected by anyone else. Complete waste of time.

All that matters is any damage or wear and tear the service center finds once you turn it in. They’re not going to care (or listen) to what another dealer or 3rd party inspector that you hired says about the condition.

Taking good photos and videos documenting the condition, tire depth, etc. is about the only thing you can do.
