Lease help - NY Hyundai dealer prices higher than Hyundai USA offers & How to shop for a lease

I have leased before, but only went by the payment.

Hyundai USA has Ioniq 5 and 6 lease offers for 24 months, 12k miles, and $3,999 down. For example, Hyundai offers an Ioniq 5 SEL AWD for $279. The dealer’s price is $365. Should I be expecting a price of $279 plus sales tax, coming to $301? Is there a bit more for dealer fees divided by the number of months?

Is there a better way to go about shopping than contacing several dealers that have inventory and asking them for prcing compared to the Hyundai USA offers?

Also, is leasing from an out of state dealer something that is done? Certain color and trim combinations can be difficult to find.

Thank you very much for any help and suggestions.

You can get a lease from any dealer that is willing to work with you, out of state included. NY has you pay taxes upfront on the total amount, so don’t add the taxes to the payments. You can roll taxes into your payments if you want, but you should read the deal’s fine print.
Being from NYC, throw a wider net. NYC dealers think they have gold, and I guess people in NYC don’t cross shop enough and the dealers know this.

You need to read the actual advertisement. The prices they list are missing thousands of dollars in taxes and fees. You can’t ignore the asterisk.

I read through some of it and noted that dealer contribution may vary, and taxes, and fees. So that explains it then.

Welcome !!!

Thanks for the welcome. I did read some of the posts there. I will have to look again. Some of the posts are vague about where the vehicles are located or coming from, or which colors and trims are available.

You have to contact the brokers for anything more specific but worse case scenario they’ll ship it or you can uber/lyft there. Lots of reliable public transportation too.

You either have to spend the time to learn how to do it yourself or go through a broker - depends what your time is worth. If you want to learn to DIY you would need to know how the leasehackr calculator works as that sets up the “deal” pretty much. There are a lot of how to negotiate threads in the forum or you can google it with the forum name to start off.
