Hello Hackrs,
We have a new Tacoma TRD Pro on order and should be getting it within the next month. We’re considering doing a one-pay lease depending on the amount or potentially purchasing it outright. Any recommendations? Tips, tricks? I feel like we have very little negotiating room since these things are selling like crazy, and often for far over MSRP…
Ordering a TRD Pro without first coming to an agreement on pricing sounds like a recipe for disaster… when it arrives they will probably quote you a high price.
These have always been better to purchase, they have very poor lease programs and hold their value very well. Most dealers dont do 1pays and even if they do it would be a huge amount to give upfront given how high the lease will be on these
There isn’t any good Lease programs for the TRD so all you really are doing is giving away Acquisition and Disposition Fees (~$1000) and paying a higher interest rate.
Toyota trucks and SUVs (generally) don’t lease well. It’s odd that you’ve placed an order prior to agreeing on a sale price.
I guess let me rephrase, we agreed to MSRP. But was that a mistake? I’ve not heard of dealerships willing to budge since they know they’ll sell and a lot are marking up. I thought they’d be decent leases because they hold value so well?
A vehicles future resale value is only one part of the lease calculation
These have very high money factors, no lease rebates, and no discounts. Thats the issue
That’s the exact wrong reason to lease something.
Holding value IRL means you want to own all that equity with no restrictions
A hackable lease typically means paying less depreciation on the lease than you would IRL, either through an overestimated RV and/or higher lease-only rebates.
