Lease a M4 comp or purchase a 2023

Hi, I have leased 5 BMW’s in the past including a M4 comp. I am not seeing much inventory on the M4 comp these days and wondering even with loyalty is it worth hacking a new M4 lease. The other option is to purchase a used one but I have done that in the past and I dislike selling these cars privately when I want to move on in 2-3 years. BMW has been good to me through the years. I have a V8 AMG right now and it is a great car but I have had it for 2 years and want to try the new motor the M4 comp has. Thank you

Purchase would be the best bet i believe. Calculate your cost of care for each scenario and see what your happy with. Doubt there will be equity in the m4 but who knows with this crazy car market

The leases are pretty bad (high MF/low RV) on M3/M4…they actually do hold value (M3 more so) and financing/writing a check is the way to go.

Even pre covid? Feel like getting a discount was realistic for an m3, not much , but still present. Now, used 2024s with 10k miles are almost listed at msrp or just below

Pre-covid M deals could be had. They just aren’t making as many Ms for US now.

We can still discount M4s most of the time, for what that is worth.

Sure 6 maybe 8 on M4 likely nothing on M3 but I bought a new F80 M3 for 10% off back in good old days. Haha

Starting to see 2-5% on m3 through various broker. Market overall softening

If it were me I would explore two options when it comes to used market options.. you can definitely buy but I would shoot for a 21/22 because of the lower price point and I tend to like the outdated cluster/dash for some reason. I think it was only for two years or so. On the other hand you can always explore BMW Select (balloon) which can be applied on CPO and pre-owned models.

I think a M2 leases better so if you are looking at the coupe factor; that could be a back up.

Finally, Bimmerpost sometimes has good recommendations on dealers. I think near the Mississippi dealers are willing to be a bit more aggressive on new units.

Unless I am misreading, I don’t see an option of where it states you can return and walk away (not sayings it is not an option)–states you can pay the balance, refinance, or trade it in (not sure if thats the same as return or have to get another vehicle)

Thank you, I have a BMW with the new screen and it is much better than the old style IMO. I never heard of the BMW balloon, i need to read up on that.

Let me know what comps are on the ground please.

Yea i like to walk away and not roll anything into a new lease

I am thinking I should probably wait because there are no strong incentives right now however, the M cars market seems to be strong compared to the rest of the car market. With tax this car is $1500 per month , my last M4 comp was $1000. I do not want to buy used because I usually swap these thing after 2 years. Thank you for reviewing.

Waiting won’t do anything, the M cars have never had subsidized money factors, and almost never have any lease cash aside from loyalty.

This is pay to play. It’s a good discount, if you like the car, buy it.

The only good news is that as of late, these cars have had a lot of equity at lease end.

Don’t you have tax exemption in AZ? Buy a used car from a private seller. Drive it for 2 years then sell it.

Have you considered a CLE 53?

No, I have a AMG v8 now and just got a glc450 for my wife. But I will look into a CLE 53 , leases aren’t great with gasser Mercedes.

Good idea, not many private sale on M4 xdrive 2024 or newer, dealers have a few but they will hit me up on sales tax
