Hey y’all, I need some advice. I am going to be selling my 2017 Sierra privately and then leasing a large SUV (growing family and need a large SUV for work). I’m more interested in the best deal possible than what I am driving.
What large SUVs would y’all consider very good deals in this current market? I have already asked edmunds for numbers on a whole slew of SUVs.
Whatever you get you’ll likely want to pickup outside of Florida. Dealers are terribke for the most part and the fees are high. Likely will save thousands leaving the state for a car lease.
Can you define large SUV for us? For some, a 2 row Grand Cherokee would suffice as ‘large’ while others would look at 3 row SUVs or something along the lines of a Yukon or Tahoe.
Forget about lease deals in this segment; they just don’t exist right now. Before someone mentions the GCL and “% off MSRP” that’s how suckers get destroyed every day at dealerships: Inflate the made-up number called MSRP and then show a sucker a “discount.”
Bottom line: You’d have to buy/finance something.
Explorer is on the small side IIRC as far as interior space.
Check out the Chevy Traverse (lowest entry point as far as MSRP goes), Telluride/Palisade twins (higher end of resale value), or Nissan Pathfinder (in between).
If you don’t actually need the third row and are just looking for good cargo space: Honda Passport.
Depending on what you need the space for (eg hauling people, hauling stuff or towing) I think the atlas and new pathfinder are excellent values at or near msrp. Same for the Korean twins but I think they’re generally harder to get a “deal” on.
