Kona EV - MSRP Discount

I’m trying to shop for a Kona EV Ultimate and seeing a ton for sale. The couple quotes I’ve gotten have been straight MSRP minus rebates. I’ve made a few offers at around 5% off MSRP, which I think is reasonable and not heard back.

Are these cars that hot where a 5% off MSRP on the sale price is laughed at? Or am I just approaching this wrong?

I had the same issue until I went to @Omegaautogroup I see they have an Ultimate for $318 OTD 0 DAS.

go to Marketplace and give em a call.

Edit : + SalesTax and Broker fee.

Yeah I looked on there, for me its quoting 391 a month 0 OTD thanks to California tax…

Just looked and currently is 14k of incentives, and they are giving slightly over 14k of discounts.

Ouch, guess the Kona is going for practically MSRP.

it just seems like no dealers want to even provide a small discount. crazy. lots of inventory too.

it was the same when i was shopping for leafs earlier this week, except they had even more inventory, especially leftover 2020s. and not a single dealer wanted to come off msrp.

The real reason is supply is low. They can have a ton on hand today…but this summer they will have jack. If you need a car now, maybe look at the Kia Niro EV premium, similar car

I don’t recommend the Bolt because if you are getting a Hyundai Ultimate, you want a sunroof which isn’t in the bolt.

BTW only the 2021 comes with $125 free charging, the 2020 does not.

yeah i couldnt do the bolt… it just wasnt going to happen. I drove it and didnt like it.

Wonder what will happens to incentives after this weekend. The 21’s have a 12500 dollar lease cash right now

I show a 11k + 3k bonus today.
the 12.5 is for a 48, and you don’t want a 48 on that car.

not a single dealer offered me the 14k today. huge bummer.

Stop asking the dealers how much they want you to pay

i literally email them and say this is my offer.

Sell price, plus your rebate, plus taxes and fee, 0 drive off (using the calc) with this monthly inclusive of taxes.

The ones that reply quote me full msrp and less rebate. Like I offered them with the 14k rebate and they came back and said no the rebate is 12k, etc…

What did edmunds say?

If you have multiple dealers saying you’re wrong on the incentives and all giving the same answer, you may be wrong on the incentives. That or some are dealer cash that are rolled into the selling price.

If you sent that to Irvine OR Huntington Beach, I’m not surprised.

Talk to Ty at Carlsbad, he got me a good deal.

i tried the place in downey… I sent them a break down with the 14k rebate and they came back with this:

MSRP/Retail: $47,405.00
Total Savings + Rebates:$12,500
Which brings you to : $34,905.00

MF: 0.00057
Residual Value: $23,703.00

I’ll give Ty and Carlsbad a try. Thx. Carlsbad’s a haul for me though.

A little 1.5hr drive to save a few thousand is worth it.

Also sounds like they are giving you the 11k, but not the 3k, and giving a 1500 discount.
And that $1500 is the state rebate…aka zero

yeah i verified the 1500 is for the clean air rebate.

Just texted Carlsbad. Made a similar offer. I did ask for 5% off MSRP which seems absurd to these dealers. Lets see…

I’ll make the drive. I have this trick where when I buy a new car I call AAA and have them tow the old one back, hence no need to have anyone drive me down LOL.

Which ca rebate are you referring to? Ccfr? The other CA programs recently ran out of money and are suspended

More weird, now it says 12,400 for 36m lease plus 1500 so they should’ve given you 13900 minumum.

look for the clean air rebate. its legit since downey confirmed it.

CVRP is suspended as of April 23rd
