Hi Hackrs. New to leasing and need some guidance please. So all the Kia dealers in the area have been telling me that Tellurides are selling out faster than they can get them in stock, so MSRP is the sale price. I guess that does make sense and I’ve seen on here where people have paid above MRSP for one.
So this one dealer told me he’d give me INVOICE, but he didn’t say what that was. When I followed up with a few questions, he answered most, be skipped the invoice, my sale price, again.
To me it still sounds good based on the MSRP numbers when I plug them into the calculator on here.
Telluride S Fwd. MSRP $35,450
36 months
18k miles a year
first month payment DAS.
Res Value: 64%
MF: .00197
My monthly payment: $475-485/Month. Then if I go down to the LX model it would be $20-30/month less.
That is all the info he gave. Is that enough to judge on?
If you’re heart is set on a Telluride, just buy it. The lease is a poor value and the finance charge is much higher than a good interest rate from a credit union
I’m in SoCal traffic most of the time and have yet to see a Telluride on the road. After being on LH for the past 3-4mths, I do notice cars even more so than before. Downside (upside?) of spending too much time here reading about deals, I ended up being good at scanning vehicles on the road and putting price tags and deals on them. Not sure how true “flying of the shelves” is.
Also, maybe Kia isn’t making enough of them on purpose just to kick expectations up??
Ha didn’t even think of that. Good point
What makes it a poor value if you don’t mind me asking? I thought the residual seemed decent
The residual is decent but the MF is super high. Combined with the lack of a discount, you can get more for your money elsewhere (like Highlander)
I think what he meant to say was that new model cars are, in general, crappy to get a decent deal on. It takes time for the dealers to come back down from their cloud and realize that it is just another model car out of thousands out there.
If you’re going to spend that much on a car, how about spending a few hours (if you haven’t already) on LH and read as much as you can about potential deals you could get on the vehicle segment you’re interested in?
I originally came in here dead-set on a 2019 Durango RT AWD with Blacktop and Technology packages; however, 2mths later I realized that for my price range I could get an even better 3-row SUV. Now, I’m a happy camper driving a brand new XC90 with way more safety features and bells and whistles than a Durango. The price in MSRP was $25k more for the Volvo, yet the monthly payment was a lot cheaper because Volvos lease a lot better.
Again, if you’re not in a rush to get a car, the wisest thing to do would be to read up. There are 100s of deals posted here and 1000s of people that know their shit to help.
Cheers and good luck!
Thanks for the info. Appreciate it! I’ve been doing a lot of reading the past couple days since I signed up on here. A lot to digest.
Thanks again!
Hyundai/Kia are obviously more interested in retail sales va leasing and it reflects in interest rates.
Go lease an Atlas for that money
Or maybe not, just noticed 18k/yr
Can anyone confirm that the RV is 64% for 18k miles a year?
That seems a little high even for a Telluride.
Yea, I agree with @StingerTT. From what I read on Edmunds, the RV/MF for 36/12k is .00196 and 65%. The mods there also state that the highest mileage they do is 15k, any higher is charged by the miles.
Looking at the Atlas too. Also the Ascent.
That’s what the dealer told me for 18. I could only find info for 15k miles on Edmunds
What’s the info for 15k? If the RV for 15k is lower than 64% then something is up.
I think it was 63 or 64%
like the OP. I was also eyeing the Telluride but the lease prices are just ridiculous. Was also waiting for the Palisade but I think it will be the same with Telluride so i will just wait it out and get in an Atlas or HL once the stars align for the unicorn deal Patience is virtue
I think your residual is off for 18k miles per year
Wirh those numbers he’s selling at Msrp.
