Kia dealership offering 1,000,000 Mile Warranty

I came across an article on my news feed about a Kia dealership in Virginia offering a 1,000,000 mile warranty.

My question to folks is, would you buy a Kia and the warranty from this dealership?

To those who have owned Kias, how has the reliability been?

Well the fact they don’t have the fine print about the warranty online is a pretty good indication that it’s s gimmick.

My guess is the warranty requires strict service intervals, all to of course be done at the dealership, and if you turn any recommended non-covered repair down the warranty is voided.

Worst case scenario for the dealership is you spend 10K in service and repairs over the first five years and then they have to spend a few thousand to fix something six years in. Much more likely is no one follows the requirements to actually use the million mile warranty.

There’s a few other dealerships around the country that do this. Caveats as you can imagine:

  1. $250 deductible if not at the purchased dealership
  2. Effectively voided if you don’t do service per the manual intervals, but you can service your car at other shops.
  3. Just a powertrain warranty, not B2B.
  4. Only kicks in after the factory warranty is up, which is quite long on Kia’s at the moment.
  5. Doesn’t apply to Diesel, “performance vehicles” or electric

They’re really making the money off #4. How many first owners are keeping the car long after 10yrs/100k?

From the dealer’s website:

This seems like the last automotive or personal finance forum on earth where you’d find someone excited to drive their car for a million miles
