So it sounds like the family friend was none the wiser; you might as well have went completely on your own.
I am sorry that this has happened to you, but hopefully there are some sort of positives with the new car. Unfortunately there will always be dealers out there doing their damndest to give them all a bad name. Hopefully you will receive this as a valuable lesson and be better prepared for your next purchase. This purchase obviously sucks, but if it is your worst “deal” in life, then you are doing alright.
You might as well have gone with the dealer’s family friend. No test drive on a used car? Did you even kick the tires? Lesson learned, the best thing you’ve done here is to start following LH. Read wisely, become a seasoned car person, help yourself, then help others. It a bright day today, don’t look back☀️
Seldom do “friends” ever help properly with these things. This is something each buyer has to inform themselves on.
Cancel the warranties and maintenance plans. You’ll be stuck paying this for a while until you can offload it without being greatly upside down. Recommend you never do 84 month term again. It takes four to five years to break even on these loans since you’re stuck paying so much in interest.
You should put more of an effort to inform yourself on financing and how loans work for your next purchase. Coming here to ask questions BEFORE you buy is the first step.
Next time, please line up your own car loan, especially for a used car. Unless you qualify for a special rate from the manufacturer, you should not sign a car loan from the dealership
