Just Leased EOY 2019 Colorado ZR2–Zero down &18% off MSRP

No discernible difference from the new 2020 model year…

2019 Chevy Colorado with Bose, Midnight Bars and lights, etc. Black.
MSRP: $ 48490
Cap Cost: $39844* includes rebates and dealer discount
Monthly Payment: $ 481
Drive-Off Amount: $ 0 (except first month payment)
Months: 36
Annual Mileage:10k
MF: 0.00192
Residual: 0.62
Incentives: Negotiated without using all the GM employee garbage… Dealer made the numbers work with $4150 rebate plus dealer discounts.

My strategy was to use the 1-Percent Rule BUT without any money down.

Leasehackr Score: 9.4

Was this a diesel model or the V6?

So cool, I really love these trucks and those bars in the back make it look so much cooler. The bars and light are so darn expensive they add to the msrp big time.

How is the interior, is the infotainment any good?

Thanks!!! Was hesitant about the lights but was truly amazed when I put them on at night. Wow!!! Best guess is a 500% increase in high beam light equivalent but broader/higher and white.

Interior is nice. Seats are good and the all weather floor mats are well made. Stereo, Nav and CarPlay as expected. Nice dash digital summary that gives speed limits and is highly configurable. Also has Teen safety settings and monitoring for the youngsters in the house.

Can you please correct the selling price and list the rebates? Your title is misleading if you are including rebates.

Also pretty sure your MF has an extra 0.

Thanks for the catch on the MF. Corrected the 0.

Regarding the title and 18% off MSRP, I guess you are objecting to the rebates as being calculated with that? The rebates were $4150 plus $2269.10 by the dealer…not me. Contract picture below. Depending on how you want to figure that in the calculator, it is 17.8% with above score or now 9.3% off of MSRP with 9.2 score. Your call. I put no money down other than first payment.

Am I missing something? Good deal or not?

Yes we don’t included rebates because they are a given, are regional and vary by month.

So your selling price is 44993 (I’m guessing that’s the GMS price) minus the dealer cash they threw in (dealers seem to be unable to go below GMS so they use dealer cash applied as a down payment). Colorado’s are tough to lease because of that high MF. You got a really fantastic deal. Who cares what the LH score is. Congrats and enjoy the truck!!!

Thanks!!! You had me nervous.

Correction to your number though: $43,993 not $44,993. Right?

I just noticed that tax on the monthly payments was paid up front (‘capped’) by the dealer. That’s…interesting and really odd for NYS which charges tax on the monthly, not up front. If they had kept the tax on the monthly payment instead of capping it and still applied the $2269 as a cap cost reduction your payment would have been even lower since the MF is sky high.

Really strange that they did it that way, I have no idea why they would.

Who gets the extra money then, NYS or the dealer? If NYS, I wonder if I can go back and call their attention to it or if it is even worth it?

That $1521.87 that was capped was your state sales tax on the rebate, cap cost reduction and monthly payments

Basically your lease is tax free, the dealer paid the taxes up front. Look at 7-J.

I just don’t get why they did it that way. It’s very unusual. If you were to calculate it out (which I will do when bored), the monthly would have been lower by keeping the tax on the monthly which isn’t subject to the rent charge/MF. It won’t be much but it should be a few bucks. Just odd, that’s all.

Very interesting indeed—you have an eagle’s eye for detail!

They were very busy, wonder if it’s just a mistake since it doesn’t seem to benefit them but rather NYS and they were just trying to make my offer to them work—$480/mo with zero down (>1%)?

Sounds if I had your knowledge on this, I could get a few cups of coffee each month though…

It might be human error. I can’t think of a rationale for why they’d roll the taxes in like that, it benefits nobody. I wouldn’t lose any sleep over it, it’s just a strange oddity. Capping the sales tax up front made it subject to your rent charge/MF. You can try hand calculating the difference or I’ll do it Tuesday when I have some free time.
