I was able to get the 74D update applied to my 25 WagS Limited today and already I am seeing improvements. It did clear my red lobster claw, which came on after about 1500 miles. I’ve got high hopes for this update, because I otherwise like the vehicle.
The repair involves a comprehensive software update process using the wiTECH diagnostic tool. Technicians are instructed to inspect and, if necessary, reprogram five specific modules in a precise sequence: the Battery Pack Control Module (BPCM), Motor Control Processor A (MCPA), Motor Control Processor B (MCPB), Electric Vehicle Control Unit (EVCU), and the Integrated Dual Charging Module (IDCM). Following the reprogramming, technicians must perform a hard reset and clear any stored Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) generated during the flash process.
In my case the 12v battery was replaced at 2 months in since new, updated to whatever ver soft was current and never seen the claw again.
These batteries are the problem not just the software.
So, have funky electronic things that annoy, but never again the claw or inability to start. Insist on 12v battery replacement after all of these updates.
The wrench error actually cleared this time, which it has not done before, and has stayed off for the past few days. My issue was not 12V battery related; I was throwing code P1B0F-00, which is a HV drive motor fault. Before 74D, the guidance was to replace the BPCM or MGU, but with 74D now available, they are doing this power cube update first, before replacing any hardware.
