I heard it on the radio this morning. They might just run it like Volvo- no necessarily built in China but just owning the business.
They are building Volvos in China and will be doing more so. And Fiat is building Jeeps there for Chinese market already
They build Buick’s in China. The China-built Envision is on sale in the US now. My Buick Encore was built in Korea.
Some model Jeeps are from Italy and Mexico.
What’s a few other Jeeps form Shanghai or Shangri-La ?

Pretty sure Jeep is the only profitable part of FCA in the US right now. Why sell it? Unless it is super fat cash that can help Ram, Dodge and Chrysler get their stuff together.
FIAT sold Ferrari, so why not JEEP? They’ll get tons of money for it.

It’s more about valuable brand for a buyer who can make it profitable, if it’s not. Same was with LR/Jag, etc. FIAT will pump this money into FIAT and, maybe, into Chrysler.
There’s no such thing as an American car anymore. Or a “foreign car”. Every car has bits and pieces from all over the world. GMs are made in Mexico. Hondas, Toyotas, BMWs and MBs are made in the US. Buicks are made in China already. So Jeep’s ownership changes to China? Meh.
Yeah, but the vast majority of jobs and profit of those companies go to the corporate HQ. It is why Detroit and Flint were among the wealthiest cities in the world at one point and now are filled with crime and poverty.

I think you are referring to the Chinese versions that are sold only to the Chinese. Same with all other manufacturers like BMW , Mercedes and Porsche.
I was referring to the Chinese built S60 Inscrption that I drive, and I think there are now others in the US market also. They do build them for Chinese market, but export them also.
