I am trying to lease a 2022 Jeep Cherokee 4Xe and the local Raleigh NC dealership is trying to tell me that Chrysler Capital is no longer passing the full $7,500 tax rebate on to the customer. They said that it is only $3,750 now. Is that correct? The Jeep website and the Edmunds forums both said that CC will still pass the $7,500 for the tax credit on with leases.
Nothing changed for the leases. Just move on and find another dealer.
I am also in NC and talked to a dealer about that vert subject a few days ago. Based on what they said and what I read in consumer reports the full $7500 stands on leases. Here is the link to the article Electric Vehicles & Plug-In Hybrids Qualifying for Federal Tax Credit - Consumer Reports.
I could not get any traction on a deal at several dealers mainly because they would not honor the listed sale price in their online ad although that discount was outside of the Jeep incentives.
Hopefully this helps–they are nice cars.
In many markets, the incentives separate from the tax credit increased a good amount
They could be trying to sneak in a lender that adds it to the residual vs as a CCR rebate. Usually it has to do with better kickback for selling rate.
I think the only mainstream lender not giving $7500 as a ccr is USBank, but they give $0, rather than half.
Thanks for everyone’s responses. I told the guy everything you are saying and he just said “We got an email that said leases are cut in half for the rebate” and he wouldn’t budge from there. His initial offer for a base Model GC 4Xe was $864 a month for 24 months in a state with only a 3% tax rate. We just got up and left. We didn’t even thank him for his time.
Good reason not to negotiate in person
The Jeep.com website and several other sources have confirmed that the $7,500 tax credit still applies for 4Xe leases through May. Only purchases were reduced to $3,500 for the tax credit.
Multiple dealers, especially ones that don’t do a lot of 4xe or lease business, have been confused by this.
It appears that one of the databases that info was auto pulled from had the wrong info make its way in.
