Is this a good deal for a 2024 Kia Sorento LX? First time leasing

I’m in Miami, Florida and trying to lease a new Kia Sorento LX 2024. I’ve only done email and text messaging to get quotes and the best offer I got was $450 a month.

Terms:

36 months
12k miles a year
0% down
MSRP $33,890

I saw on leasehackr there was an offer for $389 but it’s in conneticut. Also on some bang for your buck lease online it says $389 so I’m not sure if they are over charging me? I know of the 1% of MSRP rule so should I fight for that or is that impossible?

Thank you guys I hope to keep learning here!

@Florida I’m in Miami, Florida.

You should forget the 1% rule. It is a useless wat of judging if something is a good deal or not. There are situations where 1.25% is impossibly good for a vehicle and times where .75% is atrocious.

The only reasonable course of action is to establish a target deal before speaking to dealers based on well-researched pre-incentive discount targets and the then applying the current lease programs for your personal situation.

Wow, this just opened my mind to a way better way of going about this.

I didn’t find any rebates on this or discounts for this model, and another dealership just texted me $386 but hasn’t printed the invoice yet. Not sure if it’s a bait and switch.

Thanks so much Matt I feel like I’m getting better everyday at negotiating fair prices cause of this experience @mllcb42

provide zip code whats the discount etc
need all the info

My zip code is 33183, they haven’t provided a print out yet with all the details. Asking for that over text now. If I’m not mistaken I think I would need to pay all the TTL and taxes the day I pick up. Taxes in Florida is on the selling price I believe.

Get even better by going to the Wiki and learning how to use the LH calculator to put together a target deal/DAS yourself.

this looks like the deal
$1,500 off sticker
$2,260 drive offs
$2130 lease cash

i have populated buy rate MF, rebates, and RV for you. play around with this accordingly and see how your deal ranks.

But this is assuming $600 on the government fees, which after a google search feels too high for Florida, but the $999 doc fee is apparently normal. you need to get a full breakdown because this will impact your total tax license etc.

$600 isnt all that high for FL, especially with an e-title service often being used.

FL tax is on the monthly payment

You should reach out to a broker and search Marketplace by filtering to FL. This is a pretty light discount to what I have seen in Florida. I think @AutoNinjas serves Florida.

I went to a bunch of dealerships in person and really learned my lesson. This is the best tip, I really gotta put together a deal together in my head first. The Miami lakes KIA was terrible, I tested the Sorento LX and it broke down on me on the test drive. Then I asked for an invoice and he didn’t want to give it to me saying just come back tomorrow for another Sorento lx. I insisted and they made me wait an hour before giving me an invoice with his head down and with an attitude, and when I checked the invoice it was for a sportage, not the lx. I then went to just go look at other cars like the Lexus is 350 that has a lease special, and Toyota rav4, and got some over inflated quotes in my opinion, but really I just wanted to check out other cars because I don’t want to go with the Sorento lx anymore. I’ll keep you guys updated or probably make a new post on the new car I’m looking at. I got reccomended a lease broker that I think charges $500-$700 dollars that I might go with, been talking

to him on the phone.

I think I’m gonna go with a broker your right. I’ll keep you posted

You should ask yourself how you benefit from this arrangement. This lease will cost you more than $16,000 in total. And then in three years you’ll start over again with zero equity. And then you probably spend another $17,000 on the next lease. And have $0 equity again. All for a car that was selling for ~$35,000 out the door to begin with.

I think conventional wisdom holds that Lexuses and Toyotas generally make for better purchases (vs. leasing).
