Yeah, it’s hard to really tell because the market for electric is wild right now and none of these dealerships wanna budge on any car. Been trying to get something better than this for 4 months, used signed contracts from here, been told leasehackr is bull and that people aren’t putting real deals. It’s a dreamers Network. I think I’m just going to wait till my R2 is ready. I can’t stomach paying nearly $600 a month effectively with insurance for a KIA.
I think Im just really turned off by the way dealerships work these days. I have tried writing my own lease and I have expanded my search..SoCal seems easier to work with but less inventory, so not really finding what I want. I think you’re right about expectations, as I didn’t expect to be spending this much. I’m currently in a 2016 Toyota sienna, which I’ve had for 10 years and is paid off and I had a mach-e for a year but it was a lemon so I got a full buyback. I’m open to waiting but the gas is killing me for this van, that I’m driving mostly empty because my kids are on summer break.
The cost of gas for a paid off vehicle versus the cost to lease a new EV. I know gas is expensive in CA, but is it that expensive? Have you consider something like a Toyota Hybrid that gets 35+ MPG? It will hold its value much better than an EV. This is really not the time to be looking for an EV.
I think that’s my next move. I had been resistant because I pay around $560 a month in gas. I do a lot of driving and I have a heavy foot. But maybe a PHEV will work, I have to do more research. Thanks for the nudge.
I don’t like the crossover, sedan, I’m short and like to sit up higher.. personal preference. I have the option to buy an R2 in December, so I’d love to see what that looks like, it has a lot of trunk and frunk space, which helps with all our sports gear. It doesn’t mean thats what I’ll end up with. My kid is going to start driving in December also and I considered whatever lease I take on, she can drive too. And we can use the van as collateral for another vehicle. Lots of options. This EV9 is a mediocre deal but unfortunately I don’t think there’s better out there for this vehicle especially.
never mention leasehackr as a source of your data. as you’ve experienced, it gives dealers an easy out for digging their heels in on their numbers. also have you reached out to any of the california kia brokers? seems like that would be a lot easier
i didnt mention it in passing - thats how this actually started, i signed up for a leashackr deal.
Have i reached out to other Kia brokers in CA? yes, 2. Got an okay deal from them in orange county, but nothing that made me want to fly down there and pick up a car.
