I have been AAA member for 10+ years now. I have used their service probably twice in these many years. All my cars are leased and new now. I think all new cars have some roadside assistance with them too? Is there still a benefit to purchasing AA ?
Not to mention some credit cards come with it as well…except or the AAA discounts on random things, don’t see the use for it anymore
Also, most new cars and many auto insurers include towing and road assistance, so not sure what others value / services AAA can provide, not worth a membership IMO.
I also love how I get snail mail from them every few months, saying I forgot to renew and they are extending the renewal membership discount to me if I act now
Agreed with above. Most new vehicles will come with 3/36 free roadside assistance. If your vehicle gets into an accident, roadside from manufacturers generally will not cover this.
Towing someone else’s car or a car that isn’t covered by roadside. My level AAA membership (gold?) includes a 50 mile tow which have used once or twice even on my leases - once when I blew tires on my WRX I had AAA flat bed to tire place, vs roadside to the dealership (some brands are more strict about the destination than others).
Better benefit is AAA rate at hotels. I travel about 50% of the year, and use the AAA rate about 75% of my stays (stack with ebates to unlock that achievement) - almost always less or better cancellation terms. Hotels will ask periodically to see card - if you don’t have it you’re paying the rack rate.
I know a lot of people who use their trip and vacation planning, I never have. Also here in SoCal they are one of the places to get insurance that covers your car in Mexico, and I think you can get your plates there.
I can go to Mexico for plates? That’s almost better than any DMV location . . .
You can yes, absolutely. Go now.

Also DMV lines are back to normal for anyone who still doesn’t have their CA Real Id.
Your camera roll says 1187 new pics and videos - what are those treasures you are bringing back from TJ?
Acuracare took like 7 hours to get me a tow. I kept calling back every 30 minutes, and they kept pushing it back. After 3 hours, I just called a local towing company, and they towed me to a shop where they replace my tire. After about 7 hours from the initial call to Acuracare, the tow truck driver from AAA, which is what Acuracare uses, finally called and asked me if I still needed a tow. So I’m not sure if AAA would have been any faster. I really don’t mind handing over a wad of cash to a local tow truck driver. It sucks being on the side of the road with little children.
EDIT: Our Acura MDX didn’t come with a spare. Otherwise, we would have never needed any roadside assistance. After the trip, I installed a full size spare on the MDX, which I’ll be selling at the end of the lease.

AAA covers the Member for any car they happen to be in.
Your manufacturers roadside assistance only covers the vehicle it came with.
So if you are out with a friend and their jalopy breaks down, you can call AAA.

Those are my 3. In fact we decided to go to Legoland in FL while down there over the holiday. AAA rate saved me close to $200 on 5 entry tickets buying online while waiting in the parking line. I was already $65 in the black for the year.
Also In last hear had AAA tow one our babysitter cars to the dealer when her keys got stuck in the ignition. Go 2012 Hyundai Sonata. They also unlocked her car when she locked her keys in it.
They show up to my house in 20-30 tops everytime.
Years past on guys poker trip to the mountains buddies F150 crapped out. Free 100 miles of towing saved him $300-400.
