Also new to all this so appreciate help in advance! When you say “look in marketplace”, there’s sometimes broker fees associated with that. Determining what the baseline is should not include broker fees if trying to create a deal package to send to dealers yourself, correct?
Correct. You’re interested in determining “reasonable for dealer to accept” discount before incentives when creating target deal.
You can also try shooting for a bigger than advertised by brokers pre-incentive discount. You can always reduce discount you’re asking if you get no bites. It’s generally takes just one dealer to say yes, even if 20 other said no.
I think that’s the next step for me is really grinding tomorrow and trying to figure out what is “reasonable” on the car I’m looking for.
Last question for now, I promise LOL… does “before incentives” just mean my target deal is based off MSRP and not any current offers?
Based on the bit I’ve read my plan of action is to just start emailing dealers saying I’m interested in “#ABC” on your lot for 36/10k, $$$ per month, 1st month + taxes/fees at signing only and preparing to get some no’s
It means dealer discount prior to adding any incentives that you qualify for.
For example I was looking at Q5e recently. MSRP is 68500. I have a dealer who is willing to do 12% pre-incentive discount off of MSRP. Then I apply 14,500 in incentives/rebates that I qualify for: 7500 EV credit, 5000 lease credit, 2000 Costco.
So
- dealer/pre-incentive discount is 8220 (12%)
- incentives are 14500
- total discount with incentives is 22720 (33.15%)
Your plain is to find how big is this pre-incentive discount you could use when building your target deal, for dealer to agree, then add all your incentives, money factor, fees and then you’ll have your target deal you can shop across all the dealers in your region to find one who would say “yes”.
Appreciate that all a ton… I think that’s where I’m really struggling the most, finding that dealer discount/what is realistic. I haven’t seen a ton out there for the car I’m looking at so the benchmark is kinda all over the place.
I keep running into brick walls when trying to get some market info/benchmarks on the GV70. Is that from just a pure lack of ability to get a fair but good deal? Or are they simply not leasing at all, regardless of deal or not.
Been trying to info overload as much as I can over the past week.
There isn’t a good track of record for deals on the GV70, either ICE or EV.
After my experience with the GV60, I’d definitely jump in a GV70 (ICE) if the price was right, but they aren’t worth it.
The EVs are good deals. The gas ones arent.
Yeah currently looking for a gas one as I have no where to charge the EV.
Is this a situation where I kinda just have to come up with an aggressive deal on my own and start spraying and praying?
Yeah that’s the wall I’m running into right now… I can’t find any history of any good deals on the ICE.
what are you looking for specifically? my dealer has a few 25s left.
Was primarily looking for a 2.5T Select in Black (can be flexible into the other trims above select as I’m cognizant of availability).
I only have v6’s left.
Not opposed but would be interested in the Sport trim in the 3.5 (v6)
What’s the car you’re looking for?
Genesis GV70 ICE/Gas
Preferably the 2.5T Select/Advanced
Then you should start your own thread
I did, I was just asking someone a question yesterday based off their reply I saw in here. All info grabbing/learning brother!
Hard-ish to find benchmarks on Genesis… any help with where I’m at on this one would be helpful.
2.5T Advanced trim
36/10k
$550/mo
NY Taxes + Fees + 1st month at signing
Still haven’t seen much in regards to benchmarks on this one. Debating whether to go with it or take another stab in April
