So my dealer offered for an extra $32 per month a minor dent and scratch coverage for the vehicle. It covers up to 6 dents and scratches per year. It will also cover $500 of a deductible in the event of a crash and $500 towards a new lease if I end up getting a new one in 3 years. Is this worth it? I haven’t been able to find much information about it.
~$1000…depends on how much you like to curb rash your rims?
Do you usually dent and scratch your vehicles ?
$1152 is expensive for peace-of-mind here
my wife curbs rim while parallel parking, scrapes the front lip of those concrete parking stoppers
has turned too quickly out of garage… yup, worth it for me.
i use to get it fixed, but now i just leave it to the end of the lease… those mobile paint/repair services are not bad and probably cheaper… But coordinating isnt worth it to me…
You need to decide that, not a bunch of internet strangers willing to spend your money.
It’s basically a pricey insurance policy. Consider you can get a wheel repaired for about 100 bucks. If you curb 4 of them badly, that’s 400, hypothetically here as well. Define “minor dent and scratch,” as that could be constituted as “normal wear and tear” in your contract.
Let’s assume you buy a new BMW in 3 years This ends up costing you 650 bucks as a result of them giving you a 500 incentive to remain loyal, although I’ve personally never heard of this and it might be something new, or requires you to remain loyal to that store, where they’re really not giving you anything in the end, as they’ll just pull this from discount they were going to offer. You need to determine who is giving you this 500 toward a new lease…BMW or the store.
In the end, do you really think you’re going to do 1150 worth of damage on this lease? How have your previous leases fared?
Personally, I’ve never bought these extra insurance policies, have leased for 20 years. Should I end up paying out of pocket for something…I’m still ahead. I also have my insurance. Yes, rates may climb, yada yada yada, but I also pay them to cover me, so they may as well do so.
You need to decide though.
You were skeptical enough of the value proposition to create a thread, and you don’t know enough about the product to fully articulate the benefits.
You’ve answered your own question.
These types of add-ones are negotiable. See how much they’ll knock it down.
