Looking at a 2018 CX5 touring with preferred. A couple dealers gave the same line of “one price” shop. I’ve see. Other deals have gone for less (offered lease of 337/mo touring base or 354 w/preferred).
How did others circumvent their one price motto and actually negotiate?
Yeah, I didn’t try to negotiate those prices at all. I don’t need the car for a month, moving from Chicago to Mpls. Just thought the once price mantra was odd
It’s dealer specific and not tied to Mazda. That’s the new gimmick in car sales…one price/no negotiation. It’s usually not terrible (key word being usually) if you don’t like to haggle, but you can do better 99% of the time.
I agree, Mazda don’t like to budge as a result I’ve used brokers to help get the price down to a responsible monthly. Lexus just adopted the one (no haggling) price tactics on both new and used cars. They seem to like it but I hate it. For example my friend wanted a used 2017 IS200T and no SOCAL dealership would come down (not even a penny). They would contact me to see if I was still interested but would not budge. So I contacted new car salesmen and they did negotiate a pretty good deal on a brand new IS300T. In fact I was able to get it down $5K more than the used. Then I pulled the lease button and the lease price was mid $300’s with zero and zero customer cash. But my friend who hates leasing decided to purchase the used 200T and ended with monthlies over $700. Even if he wanted to pay off the IS300T, the residual was low enough that at the end of the day would of saved thousand over a similar used car. But some of my friends are against leases because they have friends who have had very bad experiences (a long time ago but still apprehensive) which makes them reluctant to pull the lease trigger. But for those who I have talked into a lease are not looking back.
