Is buying a Costco membership worth it?

Big Costco shopper here…you can save on so many things. Eyeglasses (I bring my own frames), gasoline, car rentals, cell phones.

Cheeses are fantastic deals…I’ve gotten high end cheese for 50% less than any other outlet.

When they do closeouts, the deals can be incredible. I bought cases of Chimay Blue Reserve for $50 last year (24 bottles)…wish I had bought it all!

I’ve actually never used the car buying service…I’ve been able to get better deals on my own, and never found model that has specific costco dollars.

For sure You do NOT need Costco if You will NOT lease in next 30 years Chevy, GMC , Audi, MB or Volvo.
$60 for next 30 years it is 4 cents per month. LOL

You missed out twice on $3k rebate but afraid of wasting $60?

It’s $60 per year…it ain’t REI!

So $5/month…and they will raise their fees.

Any smart Costco shopper has an executive membership anyway, which is $120…plus the citicard visa.

Some people mistaken COSTCO rebates as the car purchasing program. I just helped my friend purchase a Mini Cooper Clubman S last Sunday and since I brought up COSTCO card to the dealership, they immediately drop the price of the car to $500 above Invoice. Although, he did not have loyalty they did give him an extra $500 for fiends and family program. Not bad for a COVID purchase, he got the only black on black S in SOCAL (San Diego to LA) for $3200 less MSRP. BTW we all know the used car market is a hot sellers market and Mini’s too are affected. My friend sent me a link to a 2020 CPO and the CPO cost more than the 2021 new one he bought (after TL&F over 1K more).

The investment is just $60. You do not have to continue membership if You do not shop at Costco. When the time with the deal will come all You need to do is just renew Your membership, it counts when YOU started the membership.

As others have said it’s definitely worth it but even so, if you’re not happy with it you can always cancel your membership for a full refund before the year is up.

Since this is LH and people are always down to figure out how to cut another $2.50 month out of the budget…check with your HR Work Perks deal and see if they have the $30 Costco membership ( also verify it will generate the auto cert ).

If I recall Sprint and / or T Mobile had this for a while as well.

Please tell me English is not your first language, because what you’re saying makes no sense!

The Costco rebate requirement is to have been a member for 30? days prior, and be current, effectively meaning you can join, let the annual membership lapse, and rejoin X years from now to be current member for coupon. Ergo, $120 over X months, I’ll let others create the amortization spreadsheet. edit: that is to say, they use your membership ‘birthday’ to be eligible for the coupon, and be current.

The best decision we made . Probably saved several thousand dollars in the past ten years.

Here is my .02$ – In our town we have both a local Costco and BJs. We personally prefer to shop at BJs, where we maintain a regular membership.

In order to take advantage of the Costco auto rebates, what I did is sign up for Costco member for 1 year (a long time ago) and then allow it to expire and the account to deactivate. If, at some point in the future, I want to use the Costco auto rebate, I just re-activate the account for 1 year and then let it expire and deactivate again.

But does it meet the 1% rule?

Other than the odd capitalization of You, it makes perfect sense to me.

If you live close to Costco it is worth it for the cheap gas and toiletries without actually getting any food there. I realize the zolts may be solar powered or whatever however perhaps someone else in the family can get cheap gas there.

Just bought a dishwasher. Saves $150 in installation over homedepot/bestbuy. I know it’s not that hard to do. Some electronics have extra warranty

Agreed with others the danger is buying some stuff that you don’t need, especially true I remembered when our kids were small always ended up with some toys or books that negate the savings.
