Is >10k mileage BMW loaner a red flag for leasing?

Looking into some 2024 loaner i5 eDrive40 but they has 10 - 15k milage on it. I don’t generally see much signed deal with such high milage loaners here. Is there any risk on starting a lease on them?

Many of the brokers here post loaners, but perhaps not with that many miles. Is this a local dealership? Can you put eyes on it? Everyone has their own preferences in terms of what kind of use they will tolerate, but the discount has to be commensurate with the amount of miles.

You should also bake in likelihood of having to buy new tires.

This may have changed, but when I was looking at BMWs back in March/April I was surprised that 10k miles was a fully ripened BMW loaner. I didn’t think they were eligible for Loaner programs beyond 10k on the OD but others here will know better.

BMW started allowing dealers to put up to 15k miles on loaners while still qualifying for new car programs (with RV adjustment), thus allowing them to write the cars down further and use them more.

I wouldn’t say it’s a red flag that a dealer is doing something they’re allowed to do, but if you’re getting a 14k mile loaner, you should be getting a spectacular deal.

Not to mention you need to understand exactly when the warranty started. You could easily be 1.5 years into the 4/50K warranty with that many miles.

I think this came up in another BMW loaner thread but you would not run out of warranty coverage during a ‘new’ BMW lease.

Who said this? You absolutely could based on time or mileage.
