36m/10k w/8.25 tax ~$918. More than a Q6, Q8, and about the same as an ix 50. The thing that makes me scratch my head is each dealer around here seems to have one or two sitting for in some cases a year

And that was 11.5% off msrp plus the 7500 or including? There are a number of them sitting here in SoCal. I drive around Los Angeles every day and I have seen ONE actually out in the world.

11.5% + $7.5k incentive seperate from that - they were also pushing the financing hard over the lease.

And you know what - I hadn’t even thought of that - but I don’t think Ive ever seen one on the road.

There was a time when I was obsessed with this car but the ICCU issues scared me off Hyundai EVs.

Where did you land on the 5 N?

Your location is tagged Illinois. What part? If you’re in Chicago, it probably is better to finance because of the ridiculous taxes there. It sounds like the 5N is the car that checks your boxes – I would just pull the trigger on a finance. Go through a CU and your loan payment will probably be similar to the quoted lease payment.

I would also separate your blazer from the transaction. Sell it separately or just turn it in. Once you mix in a trade, things can get confusing and its easy for the dealer to mess with the numbers in different areas

Hyundai improved this car’s lease a lot for May 2025. MF dropped quite a bit, and residuals I believe are up. For 24m/15k and 36m/15k these were found on the edmunds forum.

You should be able to get 36/10 for much less than the $918 from OP. I couldn’t find the 11.5% off like them (but I didn’t expand my search too wide), but many dealers were somewhat easily at ~5-6% off MSRP (~$3500) plus the $7500 lease cash.

Makes sense on the RV. I’ve been looking at used ones and the prices have been way higher than I expected.

Yes, the May lease terms are a huge improvement! I’ve been in regular contact with the dealer, and as of mid-day on April 30th, they agreed to a selling price of $58k. However, they’re firm on not taking the Chevy EV as a trade-in. They’re pushing for me to come in and complete the deal, which makes sense since a lot of these cars have been sitting for over 12 months. I’m guessing they might be trying to clear inventory ahead of the 2026 model release.

At the same time, I’ve heard back from a few contacts recently who promised to update me when the 2026 iX 45 M-Sport arrives, so it’ll be interesting to compare the two options. It’s funny—I was ready to sign the paperwork, but now I’ve pretty much lost interest. I keep wondering what it would be like to spend over an hour in the 5N seats—still haven’t seen one on the road. When I mentioned the idea of an Ioniq to others, one owner told me they hate theirs and can’t wait to get rid of it. Something about repair issues and nav glitches.
Go figure.

I’m starting to realize that part of my interest in cars might just be the thrill of negotiating the best deal that feels like a win.

Right now, I have a loaner Macan 4 EV - (after having a Cayenne the week before it feels sooo small ) while my other car is in service, waiting on a flywheel replacement. Meanwhile, I still need to figure out how to offload my Chevy Blazer EV.

Hoping to make it to test drive the 2026 45 M-sport tomorrow … but also the lease rates on that look terrible and expect it will be like hell to get them to take $ off.

I imagine 2026 will bring NACS which to some might be a selling point. For me, it would make life a little easier but an adapter is not a huge deal to me. Also the 6 N should be revealed in July which might make them more eager to sell 5 Ns.

I was between the 5 N and a Lucid Air Touring (maybe the only people cross shopping these). With the May lease deals (Hyundai improving dramatically and Lucid staying the same, with less inventory) I jumped to the 5 N. I think mine was an earlier build Soultronic Orange, as on my window sticker there is no added charge for the orange paint, vs some other cars had an extra charge for it. I ended up going with a local dealer who discounted the car less, but the car had a lower MSRP because of minimal accessories and free paint. Locally (my state, and bordering states) I was only able to find about $4k off MSRP (+ $7500 fed tax rebate) but I did not want to travel across the country.

As for the seats, they feel similar to me to the Veloster (N-Light seats, I think these came in 2020?) and Elantra N seats but with added ventilation. I previously owned one of these so was familiar with them. They are bolster-y and not super squishy but I find them comfortable. It may be easier to find one of those cars to experience the seats for longer.

I have only ever seen one of these on the road before, oddly it was the day before I test drove one at a (different) local dealer. Maybe it was meant to be or as Gary Neville once said, ‘it is written in the stars’.

What are people getting for monthly on these with the new May terms?

The May pricing brought it down to the $7xx range for me with $0 DAS — including Illinois’s 8.25% tax. I’ve mostly lost interest in the 5N at this point, though I haven’t locked in on anything else yet. I’m getting close to having test-driven every electric SUV out there… and now I’m even starting to include plug-in hybrids. It’s basically become my Saturday job.

One thing that still sticks with me: I have a hunch my partner wouldn’t be thrilled with the 5N as our “date night” car — and that’s actually a pretty key part of what the family SUV/hot hatch is supposed to deliver.

Right now, a local demo Audi SQ6 at $950/m is climbing to the top of my list. I’m driving a Macan 4 EV loaner at the moment, and I’ve really come to appreciate it. At first I thought it was too small, but that smaller size actually gives it great driving dynamics. That said, they cost a fortune, lease rather poorly and I still think a Cayenne EV would be the Goldilocks pick — but between the price and the fact that it doesn’t exist yet, — hence trying PHEV like the Cayenne and X5e — it’s not exactly in the cards.

Because your partner isn’t in to hot hatches in general? Or is there something specific to the 5N?

You can get a iX that’s just as quick for a lot less. Maybe I’m getting old but I remember when Audi S cars used to compete with BMW M cars. When they don’t the half-assed and misleading S badge is a huge turnoff. Same with the BS like M340i or X3 M50i. Just call it what it is. A 335i or X3 35i.

I’ve sort of convinced myself that the Audi SQ6 hits the sweet spot for what I’m looking for — the “fits 3 teens + date night + grocery run + sporty-ish for when the mood strikes” combo.

Looking back at my notes, the numbers have steadily worsened over the past 3 months – the Costco -$2k is gone, MF has crept up, RV worse – and availability is limited. Doh. Given its no longer brand new I suspect this trend is more tariff-related rather than purely demand-driven. Any day now I expect dealers are going to start adding the tarrif % and with factories stopping production avail will further contrain.

Does anyone know if Audi tends to offer any Memorial Day weekend specials? Some brands go big, (Volvo surprised me one year improving the MF and RV for just that one day) and it would be great timing.

I’ve been dailying the Macan 4 EV for 1.5 weeks now and have a few hundred miles experiance, and while I’ve come to appreciate it more than I expected, I’m also finding the steering a bit fatiguing. It’s great for spirited driving, but there’s a level of tension even in regular commuting that can wear on you. There is no individual mode or similar ability to tweak as far as I know. The suspension is also less refined then Cayenne even though it has Air ride, and I swear the wheelbase is just slightly weird as the rear is a little twitchy with a little slip on a turn. Overall great handling, just not quite as balanced or perhaps as refined as the Cayenne but certainly benefits from feeling smaller. Boy couldn’t ask for a better test drive. :slight_smile:

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 N is still intriguing — it’s a riot on paper and has a ton of character but I’m sure the novelty would wear off. It walks a fine line between hot hatch energy an electric M3, and my limited test drive didn’t give me enough time to really get a feel for how the suspension holds up in daily use. That said, at $7xx thats exactly the monthly spend I was targeting. Haven’t asked the wife her thoughts on it being the ‘date night’ car. No complaints about the Cayenne or Macan loaners but doesn’t want to be in the 911.

Everything else I’ve driven comes with compromises too far in one direction or another — space, handling, refinement, fun factor, or comfort. The iX is/was on my shortlist - particularly the 2026 with M-Sport but the seating is still to hight to the point where its uncomfortable.

One thing is clear: electric beats hybrid hands-down for the kind of performance and responsiveness I want.

And it still blows my mind how, after just 10–20 minutes in a car, salespeople expect you to sign on the dotted line for a $50K, $60K, $100K+ purchase.

Hopefully others have been able to take advantage of the 5N lease improvements. :slight_smile:

i stopped looking for one do it all performance SUV and instead got two that fills each separate need better. CPO taycan turbo S for driving, F-150 lightning for hauling. combined $11xx/mo effective lease payments including taxes.
