Mazda’s issue will be volume, will they be able to sell enough cars to lower costs enough to sustain the business, kind of like Subaru. Maybe Toyota will buy a
bigger chunk of Mazda. At some point Toyota will probably suck up both of them.
Knowing Infiniti, they’ll upgrade the new screen and leave the mid 2000s one as it currently is.
LOL because why wouldn’t they bury their best selling model as well by not putting the new infotainment in the QX60!
Currently leasing MY2018 Q50 Luxe 3.0t. The car looks great, drives very smooth, delivers great power and response, and facelift for MY2018+, however if you care about the “experience” of a vehicle (which I do), the Q50 does not impress at all in any aspect. I can tell some areas of the car were never updated since 2007 and other parts of the car don’t feel finished. It feels like a $30k car inside but looks like $40k on the outside. I will never lease Nissan or Infiniti products ever again, but hey, can’t beat $288 including tax, 0 DAS for this…
At least don’t actually need to get it and can only watch offered deals
mazda is literal trash. they are all about marketing themselves and keeping pricing tight, unlike nissan/infiniti, which is the biggest whore in town. outside of mazda marketing itself as “near luxury”, the actual drive is garbage and the engines are underpowered. however, the strategy seems to have paid off - their sales aren’t hemorrhaging.
I wouldnt call Mazda trash, the cars look great. They atleast listen to customers about what they want and the interior are way better than most.
This can be said about many cars now adays for fuel economy in the class (aka all subarus, toyota corolla, etc.)
I agree - those are other cars in that class. But mazda tries to punch w/ entry level luxury, not toyota and subaru.
I agree with the Mazda comment. They basically JUST sell the CX5 and that’s keeping the lights on. Sales are down, they aren’t Infiniti bad, but still not great.
They’re treading on thin ice. The new 3 had great reviews on the interior and…that’s it. I haven’t driven the new one but lots of reviewers have said it’s lost the Mazda fun to drive edge. That’s very bad as it was one thing that set it apart. When you can get a Corolla with rev-matching! for less money, better economy and barely any difference in power…you’re in trouble.
Yeah I guess it wasn’t clear I was talking about marketing strategy versus actual strategy. Mazda has a coherent plan to market their vehicles. I’m not sure they can sell enough volume to survive as an independent concern but at least they have a marketing plan.
Also you say their cars stink to drive. Sure, but that only matters to maybe 5% of car buyers. My opinion is 40% don’t care how a car drives and 55% wouldn’t know the difference between a 2012 Nissan Altima and a 2019 M5 if you debadged them.
One could say the same about Mitsubishi for the last 10 years, or Subaru from 2005-2015.
Poor Mazda: it’s tough being 15th globally by volume. Maybe time for a couple of the smaller autos to merge (or a Heavy industries to scoop them up).
That said, their basic trims are nice in/out and their higher end trims are very nice. Would take over any Nissan, Mitsu, Toyota, Honda, and most Subarus.
Well first youd have to find a Nissan that would last that long…
Sikes. I think even an 80 year old grandma can notice that bud. Just by the closing of the door.
Why would Infiniti not upgrade the QX60 Infotainment System as the best selling vehicle… Maybe since it finally gets a redesign in 2021?
Even the 2019 Sentra has Apple/Car Play and a screen with colors
Seems a shakeout is coming to the entry luxury segment. Flat to down market and Tesla is now outselling Infiniti + Acura + Jaguar + Genesis combined. Acura seems completely lost
Lexus was down 23% in Sept
I meant how they drive, not the interior. Obviously the BMW is going to look a lot nicer and sound better when shutting the door.
From a few weeks ago I have a good example of the driving perception vs reality issue for most people. In-laws were in town helping someone move and rented a 2018 AWD Sienna AWD. After driving that they took my 1.5 Accord and were like wow, your car is so much quicker and we can’t stand the minivan, it’s dangerously slow. Of course, that’s just perception based on “sportier” look of Accord versus Minivan mom car perception. In reality the Sienna is significantly quicker than my Accord with it’s 296 HP and AWD to put down the power.
Wholly agree. Very little chance they are going to be able to navigate the coming electrification push alone. Cost of developing these new models is going to be too large. They are going to need to have some sort of joint venture/merger etc… With a larger automaker.
I also agree about their nicer trims. All things equal I would have gotten a Mazda 6 signature trim instead of my 1.5 Touring Accord. Of course, there were about 7k things($$) that weren’t equal.
You mean like theyve been already doing with Toyota?
Significantly quicker? One would have to have an exquisitely calibrated butt-dyno to differentiate these two vehicles.
Well i mean the Sienna is only .2 seconds faster 0-60. I dont really get this argument. The Honda’s with their CVT’s are very peppy off the line than a Sienna with their ancient transmissions. And youre comparing two different car classes there a sedan and mini-van. Of course most people will think that.
Youre original comparison about:
Was pretty piss poor. A BMW M5 to an Altima? I mean who would notice an M5 acceleration, handling, exhaust note, etc…
