Incentives, and best times to buy in CA

I see plenty of incentives end a few days into the beginning of the month, i.e. Oct 3rd. I was under the impression that dealerships have monthly and quarterly quotas that end at the end of each calendar month/quarter.

When do you guys recommed buying? Last day of the incentive or the end of the month/quarter?

This month is particularly intersting since Oct 3 is a Sunday - after the weekend rush. Is it better to buy on Sep 30 or Oct 3?

I don’t think that applies to the market we are in.

Frankly, won’t make a difference but what vehicles/options are you looking for?

As the radio commercials say “This Sunday, SuNDaY, SUNDAY!!!”

You need work based on your budget.
Pick the models you think you can get (be realistic)
Do some monitoring after your desired dealership and define your timeframe.

What ever comes first - incentives or end of your timeframe (usually aim towards EOM), and go for the first one that gets into your budget.

Each brand have their own timing for good incentives. Though in current market condition, plan for the worse case.

October 2nd is the best date to buy. The dealer is desperate enough to make an end of quarter deal and you have enough time to negotiate for a great payment that meets 1% rule.

To add, 8.30 PM (or 30 mins before closing).

You got them by the :baseball:s as they have to sell the car.

I think at that point you can go for .01% rule.

I’ve heard you can create your own incentives by bringing donuts, liquor and coupons to the negotiation. If they ain’t hooked on you by then, there’s always roofies.

The manufacturer lease programs (residual, MF, and incentives) follow the calendar months. For some brands, if the last day of the month falls on a weekend/holiday they will carry over to the 2nd/3rd.

Volume bonuses require inventory to age/sell, which hasn’t been an issue for more than a year. Focus on finding what you want, doing your research, and making a deal that’s fair to both of you in this market. If you want to kick tires or chase the loser deal, search for threads here about dealers not responding at all.

Good luck.

This is what I was looking to understand.

Not in a major rush to buy a vehicle at this time. Just starting to do my homework as I look to acquire a vehicle within the next year.

I’m currently in the process of waiting for GM to complete the repurchase of my Bolt EV, who knows how long this will take.
