Illinois taxes like NY, not TX. It isnt on the full price up front.
Then OP’s best strategy is a one-pay followed by immediate buyout.
Negotiate the biggest discount before rebates, regardless, and agree to the max MF markup if necessary
NY taxes upfront on the full lease cost.
TX taxes upfront on the full vehicle cost.
That’s a huge difference.
