I am at surburb Chicago, dupage county, trying to accept a transfer of lease, the guy who currently leasing the car is at cook county, his tax and fees are paid upfront.
My question is: other than plate and registration, do I need to pay the so-called use tax to the county or the state? And how is it calculated if so?

Bumping this as I have not found a solid answer. I have read that NY > NY is a crap shoot (sometimes they re-tax sometimes they don’t) and NJ > NJ does not re-tax with proof of tax paid.
