If you have a new Chevy vehicle and use wireless carplay

My “about” screen is different than yours…that was the screen after hitting the i. Going to stop back in the dealer and will update. Thanks all

My wireless shits out all the time on the camaro. I have to turn off WiFi and plug it in to use carplay most of the time. I’m usually charging it anyway but it sucks that it doesn’t work well

Just from looking at the photos posted it seems like yours is running an older version of the software (148 vs 150 for @adamcar) and both are out of date. @Jrouleau426 might want to check his as well and see if the new software fixes the bugs as promised in the bulletin. My advice to anyone who is going to bring this up with the dealer would be to be very specific, referencing the service bulletin number, maybe even print it out. From personal experience they can be loath to do these kinds of updates because they don’t really pay much on the warranty side of things. When I got my Malibu several years ago it was partially because it supposedly had Android Auto, which was uncommon at the time. Unfortunately it did not come with it right away, a software update was needed. When I inquired about the update the dealer played dumb about it even though I had the service bulletin information for them. They just didn’t feel like doing that kind of work on its own without any other work to bill for.

Why they don’t let the customer be able to update these systems is crazy.

Chevy not on that OTA flow yet

For whatever reason they are very specific with the instructions for updating these systems. I’m guessing they are scared of someone bricking the thing and having to replace stuff?

When Ford first added CarPlay to Sync3 in early 2017, you could download and update Sync yourself from their website by USB - did it many times without issue.

But yes: get the car and your iPhone updated to the latest release, and have a genuine lighting cable ready as a fall-back (if you plan to complain about that too in an RO). This is my third lease where CarPlay was a “must have”, and even if I had wireless CarPlay, I would still use it wired.

Who is complaining? Simply stating that it Chevy had OTA this would be an nonissue…and definitely to each their own, I can’t imagine going back to wired CarPlay after using wireless

Camaro and Malibu are still on the old global a platforms and hence don’t support ota flashing. The newer global b cars support ota reflashes.

I’m going to have to check my version. My car was recently built, so who knows. It rolled off the factory line on March 15th

I believe all wireless CarPlay lag. My 2021 330xi also lagged when playing YouTube vids (I play my music thru YouTube )

I usually just leave the phone sitting on the passenger seat if I’m alone. If with the kids in the car, I bought this. Not the best but works great for holding the phone and a bottle of water. Worth $7 bucks.
