I would say that the first one signals that he would if he could, but he can’t, not that he won’t.
It’s like telling your mistress you’d marry her if you weren’t already married. Sure, you could get a divorce, but is it worth it for an M-lite?
“I would if I could” it’s really no different than the “Meme Lounge”
thread - it is all in good fun.
That said, the whole premise behind telling a seller “I would take over your lease but for my permanently suspended license,” or “I would snap this up in a heartbeat if I didn’t live in Sri Lanka……” etc. is a bit odd and deserves to be memorialized in this thread.
As was the mantra several years ago around here during the flame and political wars: “if you don’t like it then scroll past it.”
