We’re in Austin. My husband is looking at a 2025 Hyundai Santa Fe hybrid, 2025, calligraphy, and the numbers he’s getting from dealers seem insanely high. Any TX Hyundai brokers on here that I could reach out to? He was wanting to lease because he’d rather be in a PHEV or full electric within the next few years, but the offered MF on a lease is .00263. RV 61%. I know people hate on the new body style but he’s into it. He drove a PHEV Kia Sorento and didn’t like the performance. Thanks in advance!
Geography aside, this isnt a car to lease. You can discount all you like (you’re being quoted either MSRP or above), but the payment won’t be pretty, either way. Pick something else.
That’s what I’m thinking. Even buying it the #s seem exorbitant for what it is, especially since it isn’t even his first choice as far as engine.
The other thing is that you’re in austin. Wealthy area, under-dealered. They don’t “need” your business.
The dealer here was a POS to my husband (and we can afford cars). This snip and the #s I quoted are from a friend of a friend in Corpus.
Exceptions aside, it’s punitive to lease in Texas with 6.25% tax on the selling price of the car. That means paying more in taxes and fees on a lease than on a purchase.
Hypothetically if you signed this tomorrow what are the chances a great deal on a PHEV or BEV will be available in Texas in the week leading up to 9/9/2027? So if you really want this car, negotiate the best discount you can and buy it. Pick and choose the next deal and its timing.
Also, YTD 2024 has been an amazing time to get a BEV. If you want one, get one this year. Why put that off? There’s no product in the pipeline that’s game changer. And in any case game changers don’t need to go on fire sales like some other BEV we’ve seen: They’ll be expensive.
If we’re talking Hyundai Kia Genesis, a fully electric Kia EV9 GT-line can be had for less than that in TX if you shop around. Be willing to drive to some of the smaller cities. I’m from DFW and Van Griffith Kia did me really good on an EV6 - talk to Nathan or Steven.
Thank you all so much for the input! Glad to know this is a purchase car, not a lease car- I thought for sure they had sent over the wrong numbers considering my beautiful new PHEV Volvo leased for way less and it’s a nicer and more expensive car. Going to look into the Kia EV9 and the Mazda PHEV CX-90, both of which have sweet lease deals going on right now, unless husband decides to buy the Santa Fe. I appreciate this forum!!
Kia dealers tend to be a little more willing to match offers or atleast get close to them. Signed has a EV9 lease in tx for 444/mo. Pay for super supporter for a month, download contract , print it out and then ask dealerships around to match it. Some one in area will atleast get closer
What/where is this?
SIGNED! DEAL | LEASEHACKR but this in aug so may not be relevant now.
