Oooo…dang I just bought a 2020, so I missed out

Idle Fees and Taxes are NOT included, but this would be nice for those 150KW DC Chargers. Also cannot exceed 250KW hours. (Not sure what that translates to over 3 years)

250 kwh is going to go pretty fast. The battery capacity on the Kona is 64 kwh, so you’re only talking 4-5 full charges

Hmm translates to about $125 worth of charging. Which is still good as it’s Free

Ya, better than nothing. EA is pricey at $.43 per kwh, but at least they’re all 150+ kw chargers

That’s about what it costs to air condition a home in San Diego, since the first tier gets eaten up by running the refrigerator and charging my phone.

OMG! Those energy costs are INSANE.

Our tiers here in Tampa Bay (most of FL is similar) are only <1000 kWh/mo, and then >1000 kWh/mo and its barely a penny difference between them. The average per kWh with everything factored in is usually $0.12-$0.13 kWh. Commercial rates are generally <$0.010.

My parents bought an ID.4 which comes with three years of charging on Electrify America, no kWh limit. Super speedy to charge! Adds 25% of battery every 10 minutes, provided the state of charge isn’t too full. It’s going to be a great road trip vehicle.

That’s about where prices were for me in socal. First summer I moved into my house there, I had monthly power bills around $1100/mo until I learned to keep the ac set to 78-82 instead of 75

Well, at least regular gasoline in California is only $1.07 per gallon more than the national average, and only 22 cents more than Hawaii right now!

There would be mutiny in my house if I tried that. Being outnumbered by my wife and daughter (the votes would be 2-1 to retain the 72-73F settings) I have long since stopped bringing this up as a discussion point!

Solar power! Build your own infrastructure. I installed solar in conjunction with my Volt lease back in 2018. Going full electric this lease term.

Getting out of California is way cheaper though

My family’s total cost of living in PA probably has saved us more than staying in Mt. Kisco with increased wages and higher COL. Even accounting for house appreciation which has been like 600k

When I moved from CA to FL, my wife went from a six figure job to being a stay at home mom. Oddly, our total cash flow has hardly changed at all.

It’s all relative, plus it more like an everyday hacking adventure to survive. My last 2 month DWP bill before going solar was $3100! The free car fuel is just an added bonus.

The world is devolving.

I can hear someone’s grandfather saying, “When I was a kid if we wanted electricity we had to generate it ourselves!”

I can honestly say F THAT S*(T.

during summer months, pool pump on, ac at 68, computers with giant screens, several TVs on, freezer, and a decently powered server farm and I’m not breaking 400.
