Has anyone successfully qualified for the Hyundai Immobilizer Rebate ($1000)? About to lease a new 2023 Ioniq 5. My 2014 Hyundai qualifies for the anti-theft software upgrade, so I assumed I’d qualify for the rebate as well. Dealership is saying that the rebate is only for cars that were stolen/vandalized as a result of not having an immobilizer. Can any dealers or recent buyers chime in?
I don’t see anything related to having the car being stolen or vandalized. The dealership would check eligibility using your VIN number.

- a. To see if customer qualifies – Go into the VINS Personal Offer and click on the Qualifying Info link. Enter their impacted VIN as the certification code for redemption with the First name = Hyundai and Last name = Owner in the qualifying information area of the worksheet or claim. Do not enter customer name.*
Any dealers know more? I called Hyundai and they said $600-$1000 depending – but wouldn’t email me any additional info. Seemed kinda weird.
I’m a Hyundai Salesman. I’ve yet to see anyone “qualify” for the rebate. It clearly says online that all you need to qualify is to be the owner of an affected vin and you automatically qualify for the rebate/incentive. It doesn’t even require the work to be completed. Just provide the proof they’re asking. I’m currently fighting on behalf of my customer to try and get her this rebate because I verified that she qualified for it and then our store wouldn’t give it to her. I’ve also noticed a lot of other rebates becoming “ineligible” all of a sudden (dealerships can and will steal rebates for themselves so educate yourself with program rules and don’t let them bully you into forfeiting your money)… we currently have customer loyalty of up to $2000 on certain models. I can also tell you that the majority of your salesmen probably know nothing about the stealing of these rebates and we also don’t get paid on them. Sales managers and Finance mangers do.
Wow, that’s pretty crazy to hear. I dropped it because my leasing process was already taking so long and I just wanted to get the car basically, though I was frustrated I was told I “didn’t qualify”. Interestingly enough my lease was completed through a sales manager at the dealership…so your last sentence is particularly striking.
Do you think it’s worth reaching out to HMF directly about the rebate myself again? When I called it took several different associates before anyone knew what I was even talking about.
