How to tell if leasehackr marketplace deals are scams?

Pretty sure that ship has sailed.

Unless the moderation policy is borderline militant.

I mean isn’t the whole point of paying brokers to be spoonfed? Why else would you pay a broker lol. Not to mention that every broker does things differently with varying levels of professionalism and service as well. You got some brokers running credit apps and full on legal contracts and other brokers who basically just add you to a 3 way group text with the dealer (No disrespect to those guys since some of those 3 way group chat brokers are the BEST)

Think about the “wanted” thread.

People somehow find this forum, some even find that particular thread, but can’t seem to find the marketplace forum to find a broker for their very specific asks.

Not all wanted posts are like that, but many are.

This goes back to what’s the purpose of this forum. Is it a place for people to share tips and tricks to get deals or is it a lead gen and selling tool from brokers and dealers? If it is A then it being a little confusing is good since it’s a way to gatekeep people who don’t spend the time and effort to learn and read but if it is B then it’s bad because it prevents sales.

sure isn’t. it’s to avoid the “what are you looking to accomplish today?” dialogues.

I’ve found brokers fall into 3 categories followed by 3 subcategories:

-Full-time
-Part-time
-Dreamer

From there it’s:

-All business
-Asshole
-Dunning-Kruger effect

Full-time or part-time are fine. Even the assholes provide good deals, but you need to avoid the dreamers and those with DK effect like the plague. The review pages give you a pretty good idea of where a broker falls. The problem is the dreamers (desperate/new) folks spend so much time bumping their own threads, that it’s all new folks see, and they engage them. This creates the environment for bad experiences…

What do you mean by that? Do you mean that your job is to cut the dealer bullshit and get a good deal?

I know that the OP has asked a lot of questions (which have been answered, although perhaps not as thoroughly or concretely as the OP would’ve hoped), but I do think the OP has seemed pretty respectful throughout the discussion and that there is no need for name-calling (or even something adjacent to name calling).

At any rate, to the OP, I think it seems that, even w/ LH brokers, there can be a VERY wide range of experiences and some brokers will spontaneously offer more assistance/communication/reassurance and some… do not.

Again, only move forward if you feel reasonably comfortable. I can’t recall if you had mentioned that you had called the broker to confirm details, but, in the future, perhaps communicating via text or e-mail (something written, basically) might be way to go, in terms of asking questions and for confirmation of the deal details.

Lol. I remember test driving a BMW, “tell me something friend, have you always dreamed of owning a BMW?” To which I replied, “no, I dreamed of owning a Volvo, which I currently drive.”

correct. my job is to save people time and money. it’s not to answer dozens of questions and hand hold people across the finish line. the majority of us work for ourselves. i assure you there are few, if any, brokers here who would go through the above to do a deal.
