How to get out of an ally lease early?!

, ,

Looking for advice/guidance on getting out of my jeep wrangler lease early. The lease is through Ally and isn’t up until July 2026 (gave birth to twins and now we’re squeezed in the wrangler). Went to dealership today, Ally said I have to pay $8k to get out of the lease or either myself or the dealer can buy it out for $40k (KBB value is only $30k). Has anyone else dealt with this before?!

What’s your buyout?

To get out of an Ally lease you can

  1. Sell it to a dealer for whatever Ally will let them pay for it
  2. Buy it out at your rate and pay Taxes and Fees
  3. Pay the ETF that Ally wants (8k?)

#2 is the best way honestly if 1 and 3 are no bueno.
But if #2 is around 40k, well you are going to eat a ton of Neg Equity.
And KBB is a guestimate, check with the Equityhakr on the main page to see what’s its really worth.

Congrats on the kids! Unfortunately, even if it was another lender, you may find yourself in the same position (albeit with not as much negative equity). But you’re also just a year into your lease, so not unexpected either.

A lease buyout and resale is probably your best option. Either that or ride it out.

Does Ally allow lease transfers?

They do not
