Hi Everyone,
I just got my DL temporary permit. I am looking to an EV lease since they are quite economical.
I tried Tesla Model Y, Equinox EV, and CRV Hybrid in SF Bay Area. The dealers here are jacking up prices seeing my temporary permit.
So, it would be great if you can suggest dealers in SF Bay Area that can get me good EV deals.
Is buying a used Tesla from 2023 onwards a good deal? Can I get a lease on it? Any new EV good lease that I should get? Or something else? I am looking for a value for money deal.
Oh, yeah. I test drove the Equinox EV RS car on Thursday. Seeing my temporary permit, the dealer jacked up the price somewhat even after I qualified for costco, GM supplier, competitor incentive.
I got the quote 421.57/month (including taxes), 0 down-payment. Hence the question.
The other issue is that the car dealers are loath to give details about the car. Like I asked for supercruise for Equinox EV car but they were too condescending in their replies.
All in all, it was a very frustrating experience dealing with dealers. I need to not show my temporary DL permit – is the impression I got out of my visits.
Only nice experience was with Tesla showroom.
QUITE ECONOMICAL will cost you dearly at the INSURANCE GREMLINS
I’d suggest buying a used Corola as a first vehicle…you can thank me later
But if you still insist, search the Marketplace on the website, you’ll find plenty of “deals”
Thanks. Will check corollas. I have EV charging at home. So, I was hoping to save money on fuel costs.
What would be the insurance for new Equinox EV drivers with new DL?
Start shopping around for insurance, nobody knows-your Zip will determine most of it…I’d guess $350+/mo at least, but shop around online you’ll get the better picture
Temporary permit has nothing to do with your payment, your credit determines that. Looks like you are very young with minimal history so higher interest rate is highly possible.
I have less driving history but my credit score is 750+. Hence, the high insurance cost.
300+/month insurance cost is a bummer.
If I can get a good deal, I will take that. Dunno right now, 2023+ Tesla Model Y and Equinox EV seem to be the best deals since I can charge at home.
I will change my insurance provider after 6 months. That should help.
It would be great to get info on any other car deal too. Thanks.
@vfm How do the dealers even know that you have a temporary permit? Are you bringing it up yourself?
Finalize a payment with or without the help of a broker. Your permit does not change anything about this. Only your registration address and credit can change this.
Regarding insurance, try getting quotes on different types of vehicles from insurers. You might find that insurance for one model is wildly different from another. Also try to get quotes for distance based insurance which only charges you based on the distance you drive.
