HOW TO GET A GOOD WRANGLER 4XE Deal; Buckle up for a LONG read! (Part 4)

You picking up or have delivered? I’m starting to explore some delivery options as the timing isn’t going to work for me to go

I identified every dealer with one or less on the lot or inbound within an hour of me and reached out to all of them. Two best offers were among the farthest from me. That was a total of 12 dealers out of 45.

I looked for dealers who are looking for used inventory outside of the CDJR brand. Google “sell my car” a few times and they’ll start finding you on social media.

I hit up all the sites that give automated quotes.

All of these data points can be used as leverage against other offers. I actually enjoy the process but even if you don’t it’s not that hard. Having said that I know in some areas like Jersey and Michigan it’s been harder to get decent offers lately.

But there’s also value when you sell one and have a great experience to go direct to that person. They know it’s an easy deal with no games and so do you. Cultivate those local relationships and you’ll be able to use them for future deals on either a buy or a sell. They’re often the ones who will match or beat a deal and you know it’ll be a good experience.

Also network via PM with people on here who are in your geography. It’s been great sharing intel with my Bay Staters on here and I’m sure there are other pockets of network that help each other in similar ways.

Is it worth starting now?
Reserving a jeep and waiting for flipping closure?
This would be a purchase not a lease. (Texas)

I would say no - dropping values, clock running out on $7500 credit (most likely) - but deal breaker is you living in TX and having to pay sales tax on full amount

I wouldn’t. The window is closing for sure even if you weren’t in Texas. Lots of inbound Sahara’s heading to dealers. Base Rubis might have a bit of a longer run through year end but even there we might see more margin compression.

And this is why I neither use social media, nor Google.

Picking up.

This has been the best plan for me to get a good price while also balancing my time investment. I sold my last 2 Saharas to the same dealer. The first sale was easy and pleasant while the second was even better as we both knew there would be no games.

On the flip side: The dealer I sold my previous hydro Sahara to wound up having it sit there for quite some time, so he wasn’t willing to give a strong number on the second.

The dealer I sold my most recent to is marking it up just $4k over what they paid me, but he also has a base Rubi 4xe for sale for a few bucks less than my fairly-loaded Sahara. Makes sense from an MSRP perspective, but probably not from a used car buyer perspective.

Do you wait for registration before selling? I haven’t got the registration paper, but it’s shown in carfax (showing 1 record rather than 0). Can I sell it to a non-Jeep dealer now?

If it’s hitting carfax/autocheck then I’d assume that it’s registered and your plates are in the mail. Some jeep dealers will buy prior to that but most dealers won’t.

They probably want a copy of the registration but this shouldn’t hold you up from getting quotes and making a deal via email. Also some states you can print a copy of your registration online.

I wonder what we will see (in terms of used values) when this 7.5k is gone next year. Why do you think it goes lower? You assume that Manufacturer will discount the cars to make up for the credit?

and, We still have a good chance it comes back, right?

What’s the contact info of Ourisman? Do they have a good discount for GC 4xe as well?

It was $6000 more than what the brokers here were charging. I stuck with the brokers. That difference is worth the 2-3 week wait IMO.

that could very well be. i don’t believe their well versed on leasing. still thought it was worth throwing up a caution flag either way.

hell they could be mixing doc and acquisition fee up at this point. im honestly not sure it was only in passing. i was just told that the numbers were not what they were supposed to be when they agreed on it.

So Ourisman price is 6k higher than brokers for GC 4xe but will arrive 2-3 weeks faster?

Sounds like he went to an Ourisman dealership for an in-bound or instock.

They do have one showing for the general public on their site.

Did you submit a general inquiry, or are you trying to find the staff on the dealership’s about us page, and email a sales manager directly? Just wondering…

many have appraisal links, and others I just cut and paste my canned pitch into the contact us page.
