How to expedite title receipt from Mercedes Benz

I’m buying out my GLC from lease to flip at a profit, and have another GLC on the way. (Un)fortunately, the new one arrived much faster than anticipated. I expected to have another 4-6 weeks, but the dealer said the car should be ready within a week.

MBFS just cashed my buyout check today, and their phone rep said it will take about another month or so for me to get the title.

Does anyone know of any way to make the title show up in my hands faster? Don’t think I can sell to Carvana/Vroom without the actual title.

What state are you in?

California

California has electronic titles (ELT)

I wonder why so long? I got mine from Honda in just over a week.

I made the payoff on 8/31. I faxed over the Odometer Disclosure Statement the same day. The next day they called to confirm they got the payoff and would send the title out the next day. I think I got the title around 9/6 or so.

I asked the person at Mercedes Financial if they do electronic titles, and she said they do not…

You literally have to ask MBFS if they can expedite it. I know other lessors that charge a fee for doing so.

I did, and the person said “there is no way to expedite the process”. Did you get it expedited with MBFS? I wonder if I should just try a different rep. But with the horrendous call times, I don’t really have the time to hold for 45 minutes just to ask a question… Is there a “special phrase” or something?

It’s been a couple years but IIRC BMWFS offered it right off the bat (for a fee of course).

Hey Matt_K1! Curious if you have an update for us. Did it really take a month to get the lease? I am in the same situation you were in, and I’d love to know

I went through the same process. It took me a month exactly to get my title. Then I had to send it in to the nys dmv to get a lien free title under my name before ANY dealership/3rd party will buy it out. So that’s going to be another 4-8 weeks for me. Still waiting.

Yes, it did take about a month unfortunately. But mycarauction.com picked up the car and cut the check the next day, I never had to register the car with the DMV.
