How to become a lease/finance broker?

Hi all, just a general question here. I have always been interested in pursuing this type of work and just wanted to get an idea of how to start this process.

I understand you will probably have to have a dealer license, however how do you work with dealerships of all brands to bring in business?

I also noticed some brokers have amazing pricing and some not so much, is this due to the relationship the broker has with the dealership, or from a profitiabity standpoint for the broker.

Thank you in advance.

Not a broker, but I get so many PMs from people that I sometimes unwillingly feel like one. The way to broker good deals is to:

A) be good at finding deals
B) be good at negotiating
C) be good at closing
D) be good at working with people
E) don’t get cheated on

In order to do those things, you must have

  • time
  • resourcefulness
  • intelligence
  • will power
  • patience

And to be a licensed broker, you will need:

  • a license

You can start as @Benedetto’s or @nyclife’s little helper.

Primo you will need good contacts at dealerships so you can get the scoop on demo loaners and good discounts …
