How Not to Sign a “deal”

Long story but I made a deal on an instock car 13 days ago. The only paperwork I signed was a credit application. I was given a loaner and a run around. I called every day about 5x per day for a week. The people in different departments all took down my number with a promise to call me back. I stopped calling. I made a great deal which I signed for elsewhere (and I shall post it later😎). When I return my loaner I have to tell them that I will not be proceeding with the first car. Do I need to do anything to protect myself? Do I need to make them shred my credit app and such? This dealer seems sketchy - what if they type up a deal and sign my name or something -? Or am I over thinking this? Thanks, I have never been in a less motivated to move cars situation before.

That last sentence did not come out right. I mean I have never seen a dealer this unmotivated to make a sale before.

Right. And at $1,500/mo. Get real. Just notify them you won’t proceed with the deal and return the loaner.

Call the police

You’re overthinking it…

Sign your name on a deal?

No dealer is that stupid

Everyone, thank you. I have lost a lot of dealer trust. I am glad that I overthought it.
Thanks again

I’m not going to bother merging this dumpster fire, but in future please keep all related posts in one single topic.
