How much discount off MSRP to target on DEMO 2020 BMW M5

Hi all, looking for feedback on how to approach this unit. Thanks in advance for all responses. I love this site.

Manager’s demo, 2020 M5 with executive, driver’s assistance, and upgraded sound. MSRP 117k. 4448 miles on unit.

$2000 loyalty cash which I qualify for. I have tier 1 credit. What kind of discount off MSRP can I target here?

Pre covid rule was 10% + 1% for every 500 mi on the odometer. Now heck you are lucky if you get 15-16%.

I never heard of this rule.

Now you have. If you track market data, you’l see it closely represent this.
New cars: 10-12%
3000mi loaner: 14-16%
4000mi loaner: 16-18%
5000mi loaner: 18-20%

I thought supply and demand plays a factor in how much discount you’ll get regardless of pre covid or post covid. Didn’t know there were set in stone rules…lol

I’m guessing these are similar to the infamous 1% rule we’ve all come to know and love.

Not for the M-5. I have been tracking them for over an year now. Not saying its impossible, but its also not something that everyone can simply achieve.

Good luck getting 20% on an m5 in the current environment :joy::joy::joy::joy:

Spot on, I think it’s been done once maybe twice, definitely unicorn of unicorns type of deal imo.

The one that comes to mind was the m5 for $677/mo pre-tax,

You’re better off ordering one as I’ve been told.

Not sure where residuals will land for the 2021, but if they are the same then it’s probably better to do a '21 now or wait until the '21s hit lots and dealers get more aggressive.

I mean either way you do it you are looking at a 4 figure payment, at the $1k price point I’m sure $100 isn’t going to hurt the majority of people, I guess it really boils down to if you find the lci refresh worth it. From what I have seen there’s not much updated tbh besides a few cosmetic touches and some new tech, no announcements on the performance side from what I have seen.

Tech is cool, phone key, and some other small things.

I think the phone key is for apple only, correct?

IK for sure Samsung had a BMW phone key, but I haven’t heard jack about it. I don’t do BMW.

I saw the apple key, I think ford is jumping on the train with the new f-150 as well, I’m sure other manufacturers are jumping in too.

But nothing about a Samsung or android key, didn’t even know Samsung had something in development tbh… I have an s20 so that’s good news.

How many M5 demos even exist in a given year?

That’s a work perk I’d be interested in.

If you don’t mind to grind close to a decade at a BMW dealership to get there :joy:

OK, hard pass if it means selling to some of the folks here on LH!
