Well, yes, buy (new) at or below MSRP, then resell the vehicle for more. I have done this multiple times, but this rarely works any more. To do this, pick out a vehicle, but before you pull the trigger, check the resale value and be sure its more than you pay new. I did that with 2 Honda CRV hybrids, 1 Toyota Camry hybrid, Toyota Corolla hybrid, and one Subaru Legacy. I currently have a 23 Toyota Sienna worth well above what I paid. But, Im pretty much done now, with the used car prices dropping, the buy new sell used for a profit train has largely left the station. You can probably still do it with Tesla and a few limited models…like the Sienna. However, pigs get fat, but hogs get butchered. Even car dealers did it. If they had no new models for sale, but had similar units with under 3000 miles used for well over msrp, that is what the dealer, or one of the employees likely did. I can no longer recommend the practice except in isolated circumstances. You see, you will likely have to commit on a new one, then wait for it to arrive, sometimes for months and months. And, its pretty hard to predict what the used car market will be, and thus your resale value 6 months from now. You could well lose money, instead.
