How long does it take to get reg from NY DMV?

,

Hello gusy,

I know, these days, this COVID 19 virus makes it everyone, everything puts in the hard situation, but I leased a car from a dealer in NJ in April and still waiting for the title/reg docs … and driving my car in VA.

Is there anyone in the same situation?

Thanks,

My brother leased a car in NY two weeks ago, had registration done in two days

It depends on the state. Tag delivery times depend on quite a few more variables (at the dealer and your county) with covid than under normal circumstances. Ask if they can issue an extension to your temp tag.

I think all tags that were issued after March 31st are automatically good to account for the DMW closing. Check the DMW website though.

You tagged NY and NJ…

You leased in NJ but are waiting for your VA registration or NY registration but currently in VA?

Your post is confusing…

Leased in NJ on 6/5; NY resident. Still waiting for NY tags/reg. Was told last week it would be several more weeks.

Your initial post says you leased your car in NJ in “April” which was 3 months ago… Post above says “6/5”.

Regardless, NY tags/registration generally took about a week or so to come in the mail when I leased out of state (NJ, PA, CT), speaking from personal experience.

Have you followed up with the dealership to see what they have to say. That NJ dealership you leased from most likely has a 3rd party service they use to get your NY tags and can give you more info…

Obviously Covid threw everything out of whack but def call your dealer to inquire.

NJ temps are good for 90 days now…

OP is @tijay, no idea why @AT912 is answering

Bc I was trying to offer another data point

sorry for confusing you.

The truth is, I recently moved to VA, but when I leased my vehicle (from a dealer in NJ), I lived in NY. So, I need NY registration first so that I can transfer to VA
